can you reommend me a set up?

Right both my parents are looking to upgrade their TV's and the rest of the bits that go with it, both have Virgin and a dvd player and thats it.
Now Idealy they would like to be able to stream videos/photos/music etc from the vrious PC's around the house onto the TV and a USB option would be good aswell, Now I know you can get like mini PC hub things but I didnt know if you could get any PVR type boxes that would also do that? key thing is simplicity! whilst I have my TV hooked up to my PC and dont mind having the wireless keyboard etc they might not be so keen. would something like the asus ebox? be perfect?
do you have any recomendations aswell for good value surround sound? preferably wireless? again never really delved into the world of surround sound so do I need an amp/reciever?
any advice would be greatly appreciated, even if its just pointing mr in the right direction as at the moment Im lost!
