amplifier static noise help needed !

i have recently bought a pioneer a-300 amp from ebay and when i connect my acer laptop to it all i can hear is static with the very faint sound of the song in the background.
The amp works fine with other laptops and ipods so i presumed the laptop was broken. So i then tried the laptop with headphones and it works fine and i also connected it up to another pioneer amp (a-602) which it also worked with.

any ideas people ?

problem sorted, the power cable must have been picking up static and coming through the speakers. strage it didnt do it with the other amp tho
