A friend of mine has just moved into a flat and the tv reception is poor at best.

There are many TV ariels on the market from £5 to £80. This is probably a case of you get what you pay for, but if anyone has bought one they are particularly happy with, I would appricate a reccomendation.

Thanks.

R u sure he isn't part of a communal system. If it is a modern block then there is usually a satellite and tv system shared to all apartments.

As above if you are paying a service charge then get the agents to sort it, but:

If you are buying for an external installation triax and antifernece are good brands, cost normally only varys with gain, measured in dB, simply stated more gain = stronger signal at TV, but bare in mind you can have too much of a good thing.

Triax Unix 52 in either wideband or the correct group is a good starting point.

If you are on a grouped transmitter now and post dso then always use a grouped aerial, for example Crystal palace = Group A

Do not buy from DIY sheds.

Use WF100 coax.

If you are buying for internal set top use then they rarely work so buy one from some where with a good return policy.

No its an exact science wink

goto here :http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/ enter your postcode and tick the box that states you are in the installation trade.

Find out what transmitter you are on, what group it is, whether it is to be installed vertically or horizontally and what the likely strength will be.

Look locally in the direction of alignment to see any issues, trees blocks of flats etc.. and choose installation point.

Select aerial and galvanised fixings, fit (without falling) & cable & enjoy.
