Mounting a screen to a wall: First situation...

How do the wall brackets work? Is it a case of simply offering the screen up to the mount horizontally and it clips in, OR do you effectively drop the screen onto vertical posts (as you would when mounting onto a cabinet. The reason for asking is that I'm getting a bookcase built with space for a screen, but the tolerances around the edges are quite tight (let's say a 2inch border all the way round). If I have to drop the screen onto the bracket I'm concious that the immovable shelf above it will get in the way.

Second, even dumber, question...

I presume that when you want to add more inputs to the back of the screen you have to take it off the bracket, plug the cables in, then put the screen back on the bracket. Is this correct, or is there something I'm missing?

A thousand apologies smile

Hi mate, the ones i have fitted have a bracket that fits on the wall, and two bracket arms that fit on the tv.

you then hook the tv onto the wall bracket, maybe 1" hook.

As for inputs, you can sometimes get lucky and fit them whilst the tv is up.

Or you could run two hdmis and if you need anymore, use hdmi switches smile

Everything in the post above is correct.

If you are building in to a unit, just check the ventilation if you are having sheles above and below.

I would look at a pull out bracket which you can mount on the wall, and then pull the TV out to plug stuff in teh back. Another advantage is that you can pull the TV out so that it sits level with the front of the unit/shelves if you wanted, and so help with ventilation at the same time. The link below is just the first I found, I am sure you can find cheaper, and more elegant.

Cheers both... I'd seen that pull-out bracket already, deciding to ignore the reviewer that found it too stiff smile Looks like it might be ideal. I don't need to worry about depth, it's going to be in a fairly deep space so doesn't have to be flush to the wall.

Cheers Custard, will bear that in mind for the future... so far the simple setup is: screen to PS3; PS3 wired into the home network. Nothing more complicated than that, but will increase in complexity over time.
