LGTV/XBOX 360 issue help?

Advice for a numpty please.
We have an LG TV linked via an HDMI cable to an Xbox, which normally works fine. It isn't used for TV viewing.
Today, however, the sound suddenly isn't working. The volume button works and goes up and down the scale. The mute button isn't on but I can't get the sound back on.
The kids say that they haven't touched anything and I haven't.
So what's it likely to be please?
