Denon DVD player: Can it be "modded"
Discussion
NO. It's not just a case of reading the disc it has complex processing behind it as well and I suspect that a DVD player won't be powerful enough or have the right software/firmware.
Not to mention scart isn't HD, so no point. You'll need HDMI at both ends to get HD on the telly.
A standalone player should be fine (and cheap) you might even get one to input audio to the Denon if you want to use that as an AMP still.

thought as much !
I hate "boxes" so do not want yet another piece of hifi etc
Guess i can do without Blu ray until i can see the need to upgrade the Denon
Thanks
Why would you need another box? Replace the Denon with a sub-£100 Blu Ray player and you will probably get better DVD performance from that as well.I hate "boxes" so do not want yet another piece of hifi etc
