All said and done...you get what you pay for with TVs.

One's that currently sell for £500 were £800 or even £900 a year ago. Retailers are pushing 3D, so 2D has never been priced so low and never will be again.

It would be good to compare the Toshiba picture with say a £500 Panasonic and a £700 Panasonic...I only suggest Panasonic because IMHO their TVs generally provide a good benchmark.

To make the comparison, choose a DVD with lots of dark shadows, inexpensive TVs nearly always struggle to provide shades of black with any detail. Ask the salesman to plug the DVD player into each TV in turn...you may be surprised at the results.

Some of the LED back-lit TVs are very impressive and also efficient too...

Good luck and enjoy whatever TV you finally select! smile

Personally I prefer Panasonic, just bought a 24" LED from John Lewis, with a 5 year guarentee. £329
