Binned Sky+ HD - can anyone recommend a FreeSat PVR?
Discussion
Just ditched my Sky contract as I never watched 95% of what's on there. I'm looking to get a cheap FreeSat PVR for the free-to-air channels so I can also record stuff if required.
Can anyone recommend a good PVR? What sort of budget should I be looking at? Not looking to spend a fortune and guess I may be able to flog the Sky HD box as well?
Cheers PH!

We replaced a Sky+ HD box with a Humax Foxsat HDR for a couple of hundred quid. Very happy with it so far.
Yuo can still use the Sky box for freesat reception, just not do anything more than that with it, e.g. record or watch anything previously recorded (they'd charge you a tenner a month for that capability - nice of them, eh?).

I've been using the Humax Foxsat HDR for about a year now and seem to be in the large minority of people who wouldn't recommend it. I have never had Sky or any other FreeSat box so can't compare it with anything except BT Vision but it's slow scrolling/guide navigation and erratic operation of pausing/reminding live TV and then randomly showing subtitles is a bit frustrating.
We moved house and couldn't use our BT Vision box due to reception issues. The Vision box was much more user friendly in my opinion

I have the samsung freesat box of tricks, and been happily using it for the last few months.
Once you have updated the firmware, which is very easy, it works great.
It is also cheaper than the humax, and i think samsung have a cashback offer on at the moment (£30 i think).
The cheapest place i could find was Richer sounds.

I've have three graded HD boxes from humax direct: two set top and one PVR
