Emergency advice needed!!! Onkyo 509 or Denon AVR 3806

My trusty CA 540r died last week and I need a replacement fairly sharpesh. Friends coming over and nothing to power the party!
So, a quick decision is required on the new receiver to grace my system. I have been pondering the onkyo 509/609 but don't need any of the networking, my roku does all that. Made me start looking at second hand as I was interested in getting more bang for less cash.
Have been offered a second hand denon in really good condition last minute. Looking at the Denon the figures suggest a better result, the reviews look pretty good but have things changed all that much in the last 4 years or so?
Should also mention it will be powering monitor audio floor bronze floor standers, one of the reasons I was looking for the extra amp power.
Price wise I will pay the same for the 509 as the Denon. The 609 will be 50% more again.
Any advice appreciated

I have a 3805, really good although its now missing multiple hdmi inputs compared to new amps.
Never had it above half way in terms of volume as it would be too damn loud with floor standers. Good musically, but better for film and the remote eats batteries / is awful (never use it). A 3806 should be pretty similar, but may have a few more inputs as hdmi hadn't really taken off when mine was produced, so no pass through (I doubt the 3806 has this either).
