So that's an Intel i350 based dual nic with extra heatsinks on it? Hmm. Obviously worth spending the extra on that and not the bog standard i350 dual nic for £160 from eBuyer :-).

And here we go - a record clamp.

$3200 for a machined lump of wood.

Audiogon said:
A legendary Shun Mook product now being made in a very, very limited number. This record clamp is made from extremely rare pieces of dried ebony briar. This extra heavy century old ebony root which were immersed in the swamps of Africa has a unique power that no other wood possesses. The vibration generated by the diamond stylus in the vinyl groove besides inducing an electroflux through the phono-cartridge also excites the ebony molecules, causing it to resonate. This in turn is feed back through the stylus and is reproduced as expanded sound staging, enhanced separation, sharpened focus and enriched tonal balance of the music.

Due to the rareness of this timber, there is no doubt that it will become a collector item in the future.

Hi, been a bit of a lurker for a while but received an Email for the Bristol Sound&Vision show and it just made me think of this thread.
I know it's purple but £3k for a cable !!! I knew there was a reason I had not been for 15 years.

Ascension: the new almighty power cable from IsoTek!
This unique design consists of three deep cryogenically treated silver-plated Ohno continuous cast copper conductors, wrapped in a dielectric of air, with partial FEP contact, before a further extruded FEP sleeve seals the construction. Each of these individual conductor assemblies is then wrapped in Mylar and shielded with an oxygen-free copper (OFC) braid, before being given a slight rotational twist with FEP tubes of air.

The aim? To bring you closer to your music. The Ascension drops the noise floor to an inky black level, opening the soundstage with holographic images, air and space and unparalleled micro dynamics.

Join IsoTek’s Bjoern Kort in room 209 to find out why IsoTek’s unique power cleaning technologies win more awards than any similar brand. Regular demonstrations throughout the show will feature a wide selection of the company’s renowned mains conditioners and cables, from the entry-level ‘Discovery’ series to the top-of-range ‘Ultimate’ – and of course the new Ascension.

Yes.

As if a thin veil of gauze has been removed from your tastebuds - opening up the full panoply of flavours from Ceylon. In addition the steam from the kettle now has a translucency that defies time whilst appeasing the Gods.

I thought our 3 pin plugs had to be at right-angles so they couldn't be pulled out by the lead? Maybe it's just a good practice thing that every other manufacturer follows and not actually law.

It's the level of noise from all contributions e.g. thermal noise, shot noise etc. and limits the the lowest level signal that can be perceived i.e. it determines the bottom of the dynamic range. This isn't a an Audiofool term, it's real.

No, no, no! Have Hi Fi News & Record Review offered you a job yet? You can praise the newest Audio Note 3 watt valve amp whilst giving an obscure Egyptian blues guitarist's 1981 album release on 180g vinyl a review, all the while lavishing hyperbole upon the latest £2500 interconnect and £15000 cartridge, and, if you're Ken Kessler, rattling on about Nagra equipment and Patek Phillipe watches.
