It's my second 13u - sold the first when relocation looked imminent but when that threat passed I was straight in for another - both sourced from avforums lol.

I only use it for av ( and the occasional blast in stereo) so went for the 8033C antimode - what an amazing piece of kit! The dual core looks very interesting and acts as a DAC too I see - have you tried it like that?

That's it, I'm onto the distributor tomorrow for a new amp - missing having my internal organs rearranged...

StuH, if you ever come to sell a pair of your A3s, would you drop me a line first?

Sure - I might have to soon if i track down a pair of Kef 4.2's - intrigued that they may have A3 matching bass!

Neither set is cosmetically perfectly, but they both sound fantastic. Where are you based?

West Sussex. I guess if they're too big or the amp isn't up to the task I can bounce them on...

Cool - i'll be interested to hear how the sledge compares with the BASH.

Yes - The DAC is very good - somewhere between the DacMagic and the M-Dac in quality.

Thanks Crackie but they're asking nearly double what a pair of A1s is worth... There are A2s going on eBay for £350 and I walked away from a pair of A1s in rosewood for c.£200 a few weeks back (also because they were the single-bar - earlier - version of the tweeter). I was bidding on a pair of A1s on eBay that had cabinet damage, they eventually went for £120.

There have been quite a few pairs up for grabs recently so I'm sure I'll find a pair to use for spares. My thinking was to get A1s to use in the bedroom which can be sacrificed down the line if needs be. Through my conversations with several people in connection with this, a mate of mine should be getting a nice pair of A2s in black in a couple of weeks' time.

Ooh you tinker...

I think I still have to be sensible unfortunately, they'd be overwhelming in my room. What sort of money were you looking for for them though out of interest (and what finish are they in...)?

Hi Funk,

I have a black pair and a wood pair but I'm not 100% sure what type of wood! They look very nice though wink - They were fitted with Granite plinths by Celestion from new and have either spikes or hard floor friendly coasters. Condition is generally very good apart from some sort of either sunlight or water mark on the front of one of the speaker, that happened before I got them - although this is not visible when grills are in place. I'll be listing at £700.

That's a fair price if it's the cherry/rosewood ones you're shifting and not the black ones; a pair of mint rosewoods went recently for £670.

If I were to go for some, they'd need to be cherry.

Cherry:

Rosewood:

Does that help identifying the finish of yours...?

Hmmm, well they're not cherry then as that's the colours of my A2's. But it doesn't look as dark as the rose........buy guess they must be.

Weird, that does look like a mix of the two. I'd say they're rosewood which may have lightened over time perhaps?

The darker/redder shade is "santos" rosewood which I thought only the revised/3 bar A3 got -I recall it was a £300 premium at list over the other finishes- earlier/other models only got plain ole' rosewood. Thus my A3's and A1's don't match!

I ran A3's and A1's for 5 channels way back when but finally being in my own place -after many years of lets and flatshares and the A1's being in storage- I don't think this room will take it so might use monitor audio inwall centre and mass surrounds

Would you be looking to sell the A1s by any chance and are they the later 3-bar tweeter?

They are the latter ones, but not for sale unless someone made me a silly offer I couldn't refuse. They're boxed and have practically 0 miles on them as the system was never really completed with decent application before life got in the way so they're worth far more than what they'd fetch secondhand. And too good to break for parts, frankly...

I might let a pair go if I do the extension and decide not to use them but that'll be years sorry.

No worries.

I'm not looking for a pair to break now - in my earlier posts I commented that it's actually my hearing that's on the cock rather than the speakers sadly. frown I'm actually looking for a pair for the bedroom as I've set up my media centre to be able to stream my FLACs anywhere now.

There's a pair of cherry A3s on eBay at the moment with the early tweeters. Currently at £570 with a couple of days to go.
