uh oh - Sonos Play:1 - I can hear my wallet weeping...
Discussion
Thought I would give an update. I bought a play 5, a play 1, a bridge and a connect.
Setup - Super duper easy. It was literally up and running (spotify, radio, music from iphone etc) within 5 minutes. I am going to try setting up my itunes NAS this evening and report back.
Ease of use - Again, utterly brilliant. Does exactly what it says on the tin and my wife loves it.
Sound - Connect works through my stereo and sounds great. The Play 1 is a revelation in terms of quality of sounds from such a small package. The play 5 is good, although I think in retrospect for the money I would have preferred a play 3 and some cash in the pocket or possibly a couple of Play 1's. Its not a criticism of the P5 per se, more an admission of how good its smaller brethren are, if that makes sense.
In all, I'm very pleased with the kit and will no doubt be adding to it in time...

Hooked up my iTunes NAS last night (after spending half an hour trying to recall the password)... just brilliant.
Now every room can play all our music from multiple controllers. It really does give the access and flexibility I've always wanted.
Itunes is now simply a music storage, filing and management program.
I can't help but think that Apple have missed a trick here.

Since my psot - I bought another play 1 (couldn't wait).
Just out of curiosity - wahts the level of discount ? I've read through the thread and its not clear. This before i splurge more cash as I am about to buy a sonos connect amp off of ebay (new and £30 savings but warrantied etc...) !
Or does it depend on how much we get... (man maths means I'll have to load up).

I am not allowed to publish prices here live on here as per my agreement with Sonos. There is a fixed price discount across the whole range and it is not volume related.
These are brand new, UK Sonos stock with full warranties (2 years from memory)

I just missed out on the last one, so am also interested. Expect it will be a PlayBar and a Play 3.
Having just set up my old man's PlayBar with surround Play 1's (no sub as yet) I'm very impressed.I have a 'proper' wired surround sound system (Marantz AV reciever, Mordaunt Short speakers, KEF sub, etc.) and although mine does sound better I think for the money the system is superb.
So easy to set up, so easy to use with an iPad or iPhone, pretty much fool proof.
It won't win over the audiophiles but for £850 a very good system in my opinion - and just so easy and versatile.
The only bug bear is the lack of audio inputs on the PlayBar - would have been a lot nicer if you plugged your component HDMI's into the Playbar and then had an ARC HDMI output to the TV.
As it is I'm going to have to buy him a decent optical switch when he buys his new Bluray player.
