uh oh - Sonos Play:1 - I can hear my wallet weeping...
Discussion
Very pleased with the playbar. Just the solution I was after, balance of the sound is excellent. No more struggling with quiet dialog and too loud effects!
The play 1 is ok... The sound quality Isn't amazing if I'm being critical. My hifi back ground is naim/rotel/b&w so compared to that its not great at all. Seems very fussy on positioning. In a cramped corner of the kitchen it was terrible. Better on the window sill.
I can see it being paired with another and movng to surround duties. Then a play 3 or 5 for the kitchen and bedroom.

The annoying thing is having to rummage around the settings when you want to use the play one speakers in stereo (for music) there should be a quick setting for this but you have to go in to advanced settings and change the surround speakers from ambient to full.

You only have to do this once.. it Dave's the setting so that it plays in stereo (playbar plus 2 play 1's) when listening to music ]

Bought myself a couple of Play one speakers to mate up with the playbar, mounted on Flexson stands, pretty good!

I've got the Play 1's and flexsons with the same idea - yet to get the playbar. why would you not have the play 1 in stereo all the time? The annoying thing is having to rummage around the settings when you want to use the play one speakers in stereo (for music) there should be a quick setting for this but you have to go in to advanced settings and change the surround speakers from ambient to full.
How do the Omni speakers link together? A separate mesh network à la Sonos, or using the regular wifi like the (frankly dreadful) Pure Jongo system?
For me, multi-room is all about usability, and Sonos is just so easy. Sonos plus Deezer Elite is making me very happy at the moment. Play:1s come alive in pairs; I could really do with a couple more - plus some special shoes for this slippery slope I'm on.

I am on the Sonos slippery slope already and have 5x Play 1's and am planning another as i can get them for £155 and have a £30 off voucher so it suddenly seems a lot more reasonable :-)
I have a stereo pair in the living room and 1 each in three of the four bedrooms = i love it and paired with Spotify it is such an awesome easy to use set up that we listen to music 10 times more than we ever used to.
I need another 5 of them really and an amp with some ceiling speakers for the bathrooms.

HK versions of the Play sound so much better, but the app is currently pants to say the least.
Depend what you want from the system. Great usability with a Sound you accept, or HIfi style sound and an app you put up with because of the sound.

Thanks for that Vex, went into Richer Sounds and had a good play with the Sonus, came away with a pair of 1's and a bridge.Depend what you want from the system. Great usability with a Sound you accept, or HIfi style sound and an app you put up with because of the sound.

Great system, terrific sound and the App is so easy
After some recommendations please Chaps:
Wall brackets - the Flexson stuff looks great, however I think it's expensive, any recommended alternatives?
NAS - A very simple inexpensive all in one plug and play please (PC wizardry is not my forte!),I don't need humongous storage capacity either.
Many thanks in advance

Yes, that's the thing for me too. I can now read about an artist in the paper and go straight to Deezer (in my case) to check them out. Then there's the Radio Channel option to play tracks from related artists that I might not have found otherwise. Isabelle Boulay is a current favourite - found, would you believe, through the Carla Bruni channel, which I only played because she provokes an amusing reaction in Mrs Trizers. Now, about these £30 vouchers...
No hints from Sonos that there's anything new in the works that would affect the Play:1. Sonos - like Apple - is one of those rare companies that seem to be able to enforce uniform pricing across the retail world, so you pay the same £169 whether you go to Sonos directly, John Lewis or Currys. I did get a whopping £2 off the last one I bought by going to Amazon but that's it as far as I know.
Doesn't make the Play:1 any less of a good buy, and it won't quickly become - or look like - last year's model, as tends to happen with the latest must-have bluetooth speaker.

Try Amazon Spain (and other countries), they often have a few quid off Sonos stuff. Don't know how that effects warranties etc. but could be worth a look.
