Nope, just moving them to other rooms...

I didn't think the 5s could act as rears for the 5.1 setup?
Yes it seems they can for the mk2

No idea why but Trueplay doesn't seem to be showing up on my iPhone app to do my pair of Play 1's, updated the app and had an u[date for the speakers but it's not showing...

Anyone have any ideas?

It should be under Settings> Room Settings> Room name
If not delete the app and reinstall

Tried that and no luck either, unfortunately!

£299 per their website right now, is there a secret to getting this £265 offer?

Aaah. . . OK< thanks.

I bought 2 Play 1s just 3 weeks ago (before VEX's £299 deal!).

I can't justify 2 more - can I?

Better to get a pair of Play 1's or a Play 3? (can't afford P5)

Depends where they're going I think. If there is room to get them a decent distance apart I prefer the separation of a stereo pair of Play 1's over a single Play 3.
Very happy with the pair of Play 1's in our kitchen.

Use the code SELFCCE at Selfridges at the moment to get 20% of everything (apart from Beauty as that's 10%) including all Sonos kit. A pair of Play 1's = £269.99 after discount.

Haven't heard a Play3, but I'd always want the stereo separation personally. Given that there are threads on the net about the merits of 2 X play1s Vs a 1 play 5 I'd say 2 play1 V 1 play3 is a complete no brainer.

The Play 3 is the runt of the litter imo. Wish I'd never bought it! Paired Play 1's are quite the opposite.

After failing to convince my wife that purchasing Q Acoustics Concept 40 with a Monitor Audio AirStream amp I managed to persuade her that a mk2 Play 5 would be a good idea biggrin

I'm a firm believer in the '20 second rule', if a sound system makes me smile almost straight away I know I'm on to a winner and the Play 5 certainly did that.

Super impressed with the quality of sound from such a small box, there is lovely fresh feel to the sound and my favourite tracks sound as good as they ever have.

Although not 'proper' Hi-Fi I'm very glad I made the purchase and already planning on spreading Play 1's throughout the house biggrin

I'm having a bit of a minor issue, where if Sonos has been off for a while, it defaults to a particular album I've streamed over Play. I've listened to lots since, both random Play radio, TuneIn, and albums, but for some reason this keeps re-appearing, especially when the 2 year old wanders over to press the play button.

The album is Guy Garvey's solo effort, which is alright I guess, but now I hate it. Still, at least it wasn't Snoop Dog or similar. . .

Are we thinking there will be any deals after Christmas to be had in Sonos kit?

I am not 100% convinced by it TBH, I find the UI clunky.
I am thinking of 'other' brands but is it going to be like jumping on the 'better' Betamax' or MiniDisc ......... only for 5 years to pass and tumbleweed
I am not sure the prices will come down by much. Sonos seems to have a 'brand halo' that even Apple would envy.

Fair enough in the early days when it was the only one out there, but there are quite a few now ranging from a much cheaper to even more expensive.

I am keeping an eye on Chromecast Audio. They have just updated that to add multi-room and it is quite well reviewed, albeit constantly referred to as a 'poor man's Sonos''. I am not sure I agree with that. Sonos is very expensive, but buying a Chromecast and equivalent speaker(s) for each zone wouldn't be that much cheaper.

I'll sit back and watch for now. All I want is a system that doesn't fall over every time one of my neighbours use their microwave. Sonos isn't that system, but at least I'll be able to sell it for reasonable money if something else does comes along.
