I'll sit back and watch for now. All I want is a system that doesn't fall over every time one of my neighbours use their microwave. Sonos isn't that system, but at least I'll be able to sell it for reasonable money if something else does comes along.
Let me know when you want to sell I may be interested.

I have a bridge, 4 Play1's, 3 play5's a connect amp and a connect. No issues at all.

Sonos support is fantastic. Might be worth a call to them see if they can spot any faults

If you have 4 rooms you want them to work in is it better to have 2 packs of sonos 1's (4) or is there a better option ?

No idea with this stuff at all ....

So, i've just committed to the sonos route with an order for the play 1 twin pack after falling out with the increasingly flaky (in my house) airplay and having just had a small extension completed that needs audio. Next purchase might be a play 5 if things go well.

I've recently completed a years subscription of Spotify premium which I rated. I'm a fully apple household so will probably give apple music a whirl for the 3 month trial. What are peoples views on the most sonos friendly music streaming service given it has to be managed through the songs app? I don't have any local music any longer (after a major hard drive failure a couple of years ago) and I quite enjoy discovery services like the tailored 'radio' stations and curated playlists.

If it were myself, I'd purchase 5 of them and run a stereo pair in the room you will spend most time listening, alternatively buy an initial 4 and then decide on a fifth, once you've had a play with a pair.

Just dipped my toe into the 21st century, pair of Sonos Play 1 coupled with my recent discovery of Spotify ('free' with my contract).
Man maths say cheaper than upgrading my phone due to lack of memory, ITunes music deleted)...
Good to rediscover Music

Does anyone who uses these listen to podcasts, and if so how?

Tempted but I listen to a lot of podcasts as well as music, would ideally want to come home and finish listening to something while cooking dinner, etc. Do any of the iPhone podcast apps (currently using Overcast but willing to consider others) integrate? Or would I be stuck with using line-in?

I had to buy the Zone Play app so I could control my system from my watch. £3 well spent!

I've just invested in a couple of play 1's and found about half of the podcasts i subscribe to are on tune in and therefore easily available. I understand that sticher also has podcasts available. I don't think any of these options provide the features you will be used to in overcast though.

Having been an overcast user for some time though I hadn't appreciated that the smart speed feature was so impressive - my usual podcasts sounded completely different but obviously a lot slower!!

I think I may look for an airplay based solution to fill this hole so I can continue to use overcast. I have a spare airport express laying around and its the excuse i need for the purchase of a connect/connect:amp/play5. My only fear is the reason I got into sonos was the flakiness of airplay. A solid integration of any of the dedicated pod catchers would be most welcome.

just thought I would add a nice experience with Sonos

to be fair I have spent enough (bar, sub and 2 1s for TV room, a 5 in kitchen and 3 in daughter's room) but when my CR200 controller broke (bought off ebay 3 years ago, so well out of warranty) they tested it out over phone a number of ways and then replaced it FOC with a new replacement. In fact I don't think they even asked if it was in warranty or not.

Also solved my problem of itunes playlists not syncing to Sonos, took 30 mins over phone but advisor/helpdesk guy was courteous and patient and eventually solved the problem.

its expensive but works very well and the after sales service is exceptional

On an iPhone you can select to play things that are stored on your phone from the Sonos app, that's how I do it.

Is that because the website no longer has the twin packs of Play 1's on though?

The twin packs are only £299 so it made a bit of a mockery of a single play 1 at £169/179.

Download the podcasts to your iPhone using the podcasts App then in the Sonos App select This iPhone as the source then Podcasts.

Two Play 1s removed... and replaced with two new Play 5s.

Blimey, different league.

Thanks to VEX for swift service, as ever!

I have 3 play 5's and two sets of play 1's.

After listening to a single play 1 I paired them up and the difference was amazing. I keep thinking about pairing up 2 play 5's but if it sounds that good I wont be able to go back and thats the best part of a grand per room.

I'm very pleased with my set up thus far - but so tempted to move on my Play 5 gen1 and then get a pair of the new Play 5s.

I'm in the same boat but haven't come up with enough of a man maths reason to do it!
