Yea that's what I resorted too, it's very good, just unfortunate you can't have individual control over the 5:1 paired group.
Agreed - bit of a shame there isn't a switch to just drop it to the rears for stereo music.

Fellow PlayBar owners....

I want to mount my playbar on the wall, leaving a 2" gap below the TV.

How did you manage to hide the power and optical cables when wall mounting the playbar?

I haven't purchased the bracket yet but my understanding is that the bracket fits flush to the wall and I guess the playbar sits flush to the bracket?

As the wires come out of the bottom of the playbar, can you bend them in a U without them showing or will they be seen?

Thanks

Yes, exactly that. They bend up out of sight unless you look from underneath as per my photo.

Does anyone have the Flexson floor stands for the Play 1?
Just got a pair and have a question about the speaker mount.

The single screw mount to the back of the speaker... Is it supposed to be a tight fit to clamp the speaker on? Or does it just loosely tighten to align the speaker?

Mine is loosely fitting, just wonder if perhaps I'm missing spacers or this is how they should be?

I've got the flexson play:5 (gen 1) stand. and find it is a very loose 'finger tight' screw...i.e. it doesn't feel like it'd actually hold it in place if someone walked past and knocked it (mine is stood out of the way).

Cheers, seems strange it doesn't fully tighten, but guess it's designed this way in that case!

Would one of these (Play:1) work for audio books in a kids room separate to other speakers?

My wife's already got one and I'm wondering if we put some audio books on a network drive whether we could let him just hit the play/pause button - with the added complication we want to restrict how late/early he can listen to it. I'm thinking of perhaps just adding a time based firewall rule to the NAS drive.

I guess half the point of these is dealing with different playlists in different rooms?

Or just read him a story?

I spent a couple of evenings this week connecting an Amazon Echo to my Sonos system to enable voice control.

It's absolutely rock solid and if you've got one of these devices it's well worth trying.

The basic configuration is here :-

https://github.com/rgraciano/echo-sonos

A few example phrases :-

"Alexa, tell Sonos to play in the Living Room"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to play my favorite 'Artist' tracks in the Living Room"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to pause"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to pause the Office"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to play"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to resume in the Bathroom"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to mute the Den"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to unmute the Garage"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to skip this track in the Bedroom"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to play the previous song in the Loft"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to clear the Living Room Queue"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to repeat songs in the Kitchen"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to stop repeating in the Office"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to shuffle the songs in the Master Bedroom"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to stop shuffling in the Den"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to crossfade the Kitchen"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to stop crossfading the Office"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to turn up the volume in the Kitchen"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to turn it down in the Bedroom"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to turn it up"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to turn the volume down"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to set the volume to 60%"
"Alexa, tell Sonos to set the volume to 20% in the Bedroom"

I clicked the link, started reading and gave up after about two minutes.

The Troubleshooting section didn't look comprehensive enough for the kind of trouble I'd expect to find myself in attempting that!

I'll continue to use my tablet or phone to control Sonos, Old Skool!

Yeah, it looks a bit daunting at first but it's not too bad if you take it step by step.

Another way of doing it :-

What streaming service are you guys using with your Play 1s? I'm subscribed to Spotify but I'm trialling the Tidal Hi Fi at the mo and to my ears I think it sounds better, but I don't know if it's in my head and worth the extra cost.

Thanks chaps - I'll go for a Play:5 for the lounge then and Play:1s elsewhere, I can't help think that the Play:3 will be getting the 2nd gen treatment in the not too distant future so I'll wait and see!
Even one of the guys I spoke to in a high shop said that he thought the Play:3 would be replaced with a gen 2 this year. I had th chance to listen to the full range playing the same tracks and also tried a pair of Play:1s but thought that the Play:5 had very good separation and a wonderful bass tone in comparison.

Ordered 2 x 5s, 5 x 1s and a Connect as well as being given a brand new pair of Acoustic Energy 3s to go outside over the decking and run from the second output on my 7.2 Pioneer amp as I only use the 5.1 setup. Sonos kit should be here by the end of the week - I got a bit carried away with my Sonos order but a friend of a friend got me a one time only 30% discount friends and family code so man maths was deployed.

Can anyone get their sonos to work with amazon prime? Mine is being difficult - I suspect because it sends you to .com not .uk
