..help needed for super budget AV set-up

Chaps, need some advice please. Will be moving soon into a new house and negotiations with the wife are in a delicate stage but I think I've scored one of the rooms. The previous owner used it as a music room, it's in the basement so 100% dark, measures about 5x5m and is soundproofed. I have my hifi and chair ready but would like to put a home cinema system in, louder the better. So far, so good. The only real problem is due to the move, I have no budget at all...maybe could scrape £500-1000 but the less the better. Can anybody give me some advice for a complete system made up of second hand stuff including screen, av reciever, speakers etc....looking for some golden oldies, sort of what hi-fi 5 star award winners circa 2008... so I can watch the return of the Jedi in glorious surround sound (will only be used for dvd's and Wii). Thanks in advance...

I assume 5.1? 7.1 might be a push in a room of that size.
