Any Naim owners on here? If so, care to share what you have with a photo?

I'll get the ball rolling with a photo of an interesting set-up, Naim Uniti 2 all in one system (CD, streaming, amp) along with a Witchhat Audio power amp. The latter's a small manufacturer that makes matching power amps for Naim kit (the CDP on the bottom is a spare!) We've got this running Focal Aria 926 speakers.

Tell us more about the Witchhat? Don't have any Naim kit at the moment but that may change soon with an NDX

One of my old system:

CDX/102/250/HiCap2/NAPSC. Used to run it into a pair of Celestion A2s which I still have. Sold the Naim a while back and bought a Cyrus 8vs2 as a stop-gap. It's so good, I never got round to replacing it and it's still here...!

They're a small manufacturer that design and make the power amps in the UK, along with a range of cables (mostly) designed for Naim kit. They make both a stereo version of this power amp (seen here) and monoblocks. In most cases we'd partner a Uniti system with a Naim branded power amp as an upgrade path (usually a NAP 200, or NAP 250) but we'd just been asked to try the little Witch Hat amp and its an interesting alternative to a NAP in some cases. You need to hear one for yourself though to decide whether its interesting enough to choose over a NAP.

As for the Naim NDX, its a good bit of kit - the most popular of their network players for serious systems. What are you pairing it with?

Just sold a set of Celestion A2s. What a lovely looking and well made speaker.

I put them on Ebay at what I thought was a daftly high price............jeez they fought over them and buy it now was hit straight away. They seem rarer than what I thought.

I have some B+W 802D's driven by a Dynavector HX 1.2 Amp (you may not have heard of it but it's a great amp)....I have a Meridian G68 AV Processor but that may be getting replaced....no idea what with yet. I might actually just drop the G68 for the moment and just go back to two channel until we move next year. Have a Bryston BP-20 sitting in a cupboard which was from my previous system.

When I bought that system 6 or 7 years ago I loved the musicality of the Naim set up I auditioned but Naim's AV Processor at the time was left for dead for 5.1 by the Meridian.

I've read a fair bit about the upgrade path for the NDX...seems like a lot of people think the Naim Power Amp make's a huge difference.

Nice set-up that!
Cheers, it sounded pretty good (and was ridiculous value to be honest, it barely dropped in value in my ownership) but I wasn't using the CDX at all, I was streaming FLAC from my PC so it was an expensive paperweight. When I sold the CDX, the guy who came to look made me an offer on the rest I couldn't turn down so I sold it all there and then. I was also getting a little annoyed with needing DiN-to-RCA adapters which kind of made the whole 'quality' argument a little redundant.

I saw yours for sale; I've actually been looking for another pair to pinch the tweeters from but yours were only single-bar rather than the later three-bar. It'd also be a shame to write off a perfectly good pair of speakers just for the tweeters so I'm really looking for a pair of damaged A1s with the later tweeters that I can rob for drive units...

Now that's showing off wink Very nice, like the Garrard set-up as well, nice to see one mounted in something contemporary for a change!

The Garrard works well in that plinth. For anyone that's interested, it's made by Peak Hi-Fi. It's two lumps of slate, the top one of which sits on four rubber balls mounted in the support arms, to de-couple the motor unit and pick up arm from the bottom part of the plinth (and the rest of the room for that matter).

Here's a 401 in one of their plinths - a synthetic granite one. The slate sounds better though....

Some super kit there fellas. Seems like I'm the poor relation in this Naim threadsmile

Few more bits and bobs here I've collected over the years and which I'll build a second system with shortly.

Surprisingly, that little Myst perched on top is a true class act, and 30 years old.
