Hello there. I have finally managed to get motors tv to work and are very pleased with myself. Alas all the MXGP currently being shown is on whilst I'm at work. Does anyone out there know a way around recording the bugger. I know the Free view top box Humax HDR-2000T or what ever its called will not record I have rung their technical department and asked this very question.

The recording of MHEG-ICS channels is not supported by the Freeview HD standard.
ICS meaning Interaction Channel Streaming.

So is there a way around it. I'm at the end of my wits, as I'm so close yet so far away to watching the only thing I consider worth watching on tele. (cept MotoGP)

If anyone knows how to, I would be very grateful for this knowledge

Thanks

I just brought the right box really. I have hard wired it to my router to get the strongest connection. I also seem to be getting Quest TV now as well. And so watched some ace speed way bikes world title team shoot out. The cruncher seems to be buying the right gear. There are loads out there but only a few actually do the job at hand. I'm on my third box trying to get to see some MX action. Recording is my only hurdle now.

Buy a new TV with internet capability from Samsung, LG, Sony or Panasonic. The current ones in the shops should all be able to support these services.
Or buy a new Freeview +HD personal video recorder to use alongside your existing TV. Models available to buy today that are known to work are:
Humax HDR-2000T
Echostar HDT610
Or buy a new BluRay Recorder with inbuilt Freeview HD receiver. The recommended model is:
Samsung BD-F8500M

Where did you 'bring' it from?

LOL sorry. Bought not brought. I bought a 500GB unit from PC World. £170 from recollection.
I had bought a Sony one previously that didn't work. And a Humax one as well. Then found out that only those few listed previously were the ones that worked. Nobody mentioned that I'd need to take a day off work to view programmes as you cannot record through them. Thought that would have been obvious people would want to record to watch later.

I can see Motors on my freeview listing but can't watch it.
So this box - its just a freeview or a satellite/cable box?
There;s plenty I'd like to watch.
I'm about to buy a Samsung Smart TV so will that work does anyone know?

Dear S,

does the box have a scart and does Motors come out of it?
If so might an old steam video recorder capture it?

regards,
Jet

A good question. One I was hoping someone else could answer as I do not own a VCR. To buy one for £200 new is a big gamble. And possibly my only next step. I do not know anyone who owns such an old piece of equipment.

and time is ticking to get hold of one of these old boys

and id still have to be there to press all the buttons unless i want to leave the top box running and it uses data as it runs.

wanted: a recorder to record a recorder that isn't recording.

sounds daft in this modern era of technology to use 80's technology to capture 21st centrery technology.

So this Samsung UE40H6400 that ordered yesterday before I saw the reply should work? Hope so!
