I've been recommended Niles Audio CM7PR ceiling speakers by someone for my house renovation. They will be going in several rooms (orangery, lounge and kitchen), but not the main listening zone (living room/home cinema), which will be covered by an Artcoustic system.

Do any of you have experience of these speakers? I am looking for more performance than a background speaker.

Cheers Bradders.

Yes they are pretty good, to be honest Niles in general and really good.

If you need a 8" stereo (CM8SI - but not the latest model) give me a shout I bought one for my own house but never used it, brand new boxed. Also got a cheaper pair of CC65 if you have a sub-zone that wants some background music.

I've installed various Niles range speakers and never had a complaint, although most are for clients wanting background music.

You might want to look at the DS7PR and wave isolating back box... but the price goes up.

Don't forget you should install a fire rated speaker box or hoody fire hood.

Thanks. The install is a job lot of 8pcs, 4 separate zones. All being installed in fire rated back boxes that the builder is making for me. Will certainly check out the DS7PR too.

What distribution system are you using? The Niles ZR4 is perfect if you can still get one (discontinued - I have a second hand one if you're interested) plenty of good makes out there depending on your budget but I loved the simplicity and reliability of the ZR4!

I took advantage of Chris' (Vex) bulk buy on Sonos some time ago, knowing it would come in handy when I got to this stage, so have that end of it already covered, but thanks again.

Also considered the Monitor Audio stuff, but was advised to go with Niles by my CI. Hence checking first to see if that's the best way to approach things.

Monitor Audio for my basic installs

Sonance for the mid to higher end.

Thier new (ish) Visual Performance range has a stunning range of bass for the size of drivers.

Oh, and please don't use Artcoustic unless your doing it for the looks rather than performance.

Thanks Chris. Sadly, looks have won the domestic war......

Would however be interested in your professional opinion on Artcoustic vs some of the other alternative (MK??), so I can use it in future battles!
