I no longer subscribe to sky though I still have the dish obv.
Ideally I'd like a PVR that can record both Freeview and Freesat, if not then Freeview only will do as the telly is able to record one channel at a time on either anyway.
Liked my old Humax Foxsat HDR but it's rather tired and Freesat only.
Is Humax still the go-to manufacturer or should I broaden my horizons?

Restricted budget too, preferably sub £200 but maybe £300 if I'm asking too much.

I have a Humax with freesat and it has worked fine for 3 years, it has 2 tuners. Used every day too!

Have you thought about signing up for BT TV? Only £10 a month if you are an Infinity customer, and they give you a Humax Freeview/internet "Youview" PVR for a small "setup" fee. You get access to catch up services, plus quite a few extra channels.
I made the switch from Sky to BT TV about 6 months ago. There were a few teething problems with the extra channels (delivered over the internet), but BT seem to have got their act together now.

Good to see Humax is still there, HDR-2000T/500 is towards the top of a short list.

Not interested in any more subscription packages so the BT johnny is a non-starter. Thanks anyway.

ETA - correct model & link paperbag

Also looking at that one to replace our old SD Humax.

Why not keep the FoxSat and get the matching HDR for Freeview? I have a Hummy with custom firmware on it smile

The Humax Freetime pvrs are generally excellent. Definitely recommended.

The Humax youview

On the richersound spec pages it shows they don't have freesat or freeview but this "youview"

Do you get identical channels to freeview?

And do they do a wireless one or do you have to ethernet it in from the router?

Doesn't youview require BT?

YouView = Freeview
FreeTime = Freesat

They are the satellite/OTA versions of catchup telly.

The freesat version on the Humax boxes is brilliant (not used YouView).

You don't need a BT sub or anything. You just need either an aerial or satellite feed + decent broadband.

I don't think so?

If you take BT tv I think you get a youview box but i think you can buy a youview box independently?

Even though it's old I recommend the Humax HDR Fox-T2 with custom firmware. Brilliant machine and can be had very cheap now. The only thing it's not so good for is catch-up (only has iPlayer).

I've got 2x Humax Foxsat non PVR players that only have iPlayer and a HDR1000.

I wouldn't get one without FreeTime, it's very, very useful.

Decent price at Argos at the moment

I paid over £200 for mine.

I bought a "Grade B" Humax directly from their website a few years back. I never could work out what was supposed to be wrong with it... The price was substantially cheaper than the shops.

So no real difference between any of them?

We have a standard freeview Humax box at present.

It seems I was mistaken and you are correct: click.
Thanks.
