Is anyone using it via a "decent" streamer? The reason I ask is as I understand it, Sonus doesn't support anything above CD Quality (16 bit / 44.1 kHz). Tidal supports flac lossless etc.

I wonder if Naim will be supporting it.

Just wondered if anyone here was using it in anger?

Cheers

Yep, signed up last week. £20 per month but amazing quality and all the latest stuff with properly curated play lists. You can download the app onto up to 3 "remote" devices and download anything you like for playback. The quality has brought my hifi to life and makes all my ripped MP3s sound flat and lifeless. Not cheap but I think I'll keep using it.

Am using it but not via a streamer. Have a wireless speaker setup and iPad, so far no issues and it works well in the car too. Stunning sound quality.

I signed up for the trial subscription today. I already have Qobus which I like a lot. Both used with my Squeezebox Transporter.

Tidal worked well and sound quality very good. If anything, slightly better than Qobus.

Music selection is good but not up to Spotify.

Is it 44.1kHz 16 bit/48kHz/16 bit at best or are higher res files available? I can't find the info on their site.

Seriously considering moving from Qobuz which has some HD stuff, but not easily found.

BTW, I know you can't hear the difference between i-Tunes and HD but hey-ho.

wink

Sonos does support FLAC through Qobuz. Apparently Sonos trying to get Tidal on it but no date yet for release. Only found out after subscribing....

If you have a decent HiFi you can really tell the difference between 320kbps MP3 and this. Few holes in the music catalogue and not many music videos but I'm sure that will improve over time.

Beta version of Tidal available on Sonos now. Have tried it and seems to work fine. You need to allow Sonos to track your useage though through their Beta testing programme.

Just cancelled my subscription, £20/month is too much when you can hardly find anything worth listening to. Might come back and try again in a few months.

I signed up yesterday using the 60 day free trial they are offering Linn customers.

So far I'm somewhat predictably impressed by how good it sounds compared to compressed streaming services, but won't pay for a fairly limited selection especially when they have the nerve to charge UK customers ~50% more than those in the US.

Better described as red book CD quality.

'Flac quality' can surpass 44/16 wink

No.

But when 44/16 done right can cover 20-20,000 Hz, nothing special covers it for me. wink

My point was pretty simple though - 'FLAC' can contain anything from 64K mono all the way to 384/24 and beyond.
