Always amuses me when people get a curved projector screen and they aren't using an anamorphic lens (which is what needs the curve to compensate for 'pin cushion' from the lens). So they end up with soft focus at the sides due to the curve; just for the sake of looks. Form over function for lens-less projector set ups and IMHO for all TVs. I don't see much point in 4K on TVs either as I only really saw the benefit on a 5 metre wide projector screen; once calibrated the colours, etc are no better on a good 4K compared to a good 1080p set and in most homes the viewing distance is too far back to really benefit from the extra resolution.
...But then they have to try to come up with something to keep selling us new ones.

Spent a good 20 minutes today looking at it from all possible angles.
The view was as good from all of them
Still undecided...
I've got a curved 48" Samsung and love it. It's in the corner of the room so seemed to make more sense, but I actually find the picture superb from most viewing spots. The view was as good from all of them

The curve is not hugely noticeable, so I'm not sure it's worth spending much more money on, but I've never regretted it since purchase about 6 months ago.
Shirley just a gimmick - they have invented OLED and now you can have a curved screen....
It would have to be like an IMAX to get the full benefit.

This is my POV, to me it is logical as it's in the corner of the room and will 'fit' better. The curve is not hugely noticeable, so I'm not sure it's worth spending much more money on, but I've never regretted it since purchase about 6 months ago.
The viewing experience is the same from all the angles I could try yesterday, I was stood looking at it and sat on a wheely chair for the full 180 semi circle, at various distances.
The curved screens were launched with the OLED products from LG and Samsung. With OLED, the viewing angle is not an issue because that technology has great off axis picture. The problem with the OLED screens seems to be more about reliability. The Samsung one has now been withdrawn following a high number of early failures.
With an LED screen, off axis performance is not as good however the radius of curvature is quite large so there is still quite a broad "sweet spot" for viewers to sit.
Biggest problem seems to be the wall mounting arrangements compared to a good flat screen on a flat wall.
TVs of this size really need to be wall mounted. a free standing 55' or bigger is not great visually. Also in the case of the Samsung, I didn't find the stand very stable so need additional thread to the wall to reduce chances of it falling over.

I just looked at all the options for new TVs, and ended up getting a last-of-the-line Samsung f8500 series Plasma.
Considering it was less than half the price of an OLED, the picture is truly extraordinary, especially the contrast / blacks. Its also far, far brighter than any plasma I've ever seen (once you turn of the silly Eco preset, natch).
Compared to similar large LED screens, it handles motion much much better and doesn't have the weird lighting I associate with those screens. For the next few years, until either someone actually starts delivering HD content or OLED becomes truly mainstream, this is a superb set.
