The next 3d I think. As in all the rage but then just dies a seat when people realise it doesn't add anything sufficient to make up for the downsides.
I might be proven wrong though. It did happen once before in 96.
Having spent years making screen flat and so thin that they sound crap and will mount on a wall, they are now making them stick out again.

Yeah, this is along the lines of what I'm thinking; I'm not impressed with 3D. It's the 4k that was amazing.I might be proven wrong though. It did happen once before in 96.

I don't much difference between curved & flat but I don't want to buy Betamax when I should have bought VHS
This would be a wedding present, so we need to invest it wisely, as we wouldn't be able to replace for a fair few years!

No idea how long they will last but impressed by the picture on one and it would suit my humble room. Seeing as I do not want to screw one to the wall and only have a corner where it will really go.
This is what drew me to it; it would fit in the corner of the room better.Screen size, without taking up the whole room
In all honesty I think the curve thing is just a gimmick and an excuse to charge more. The curve isn't actually that noticeable at normal viewing distances.

If I decide it ain't going to be the solution I expect it, I can paint it silver, paint a picture on and stick it in another corner and the locals peeping in can think I am posh with two living room tellys.
I believe the curve is a gimmick and many of the shop assistance suggest that you need to be sitting right opposite the middle of the screen to get the full benefit..
With regards to 3D, really don't think that is a gimmick, with a decent 3D Blueray player, many of these 3D 4K Smart sets look amazing in 3D, as they upscale the picture with lots of depth and picture quality.
My little nieces were around @ the weekend and I put on "How to train a Dragon II" and they were blown away by the 3D picture, I watched part of the ending and could not believe how good it was, this is on a 48" set..
I did not buy my Samsung set for the 3D capability, more so for the 4K, however most of the new smart TV's incorporate 3D, which I think is a bonus! Downsides are £20 for 3D Blueray discs..

I just don't get the idea at all as an everyday tv, seems like emperor's new clothes to me. If you're not dead in the centre of where the circle would be then your viewing is compromised. If you are off to one side a bit then the viewing angle of the near side is greatly increased and the image distorted.
The only application for me is if you are a singleton, or using it for gaming and can sit totally central to it.

Most LCD based tech looks st off dead centre with colour accuracy ad black levels dropping off, so adding a curved screen would make it look even worse on the nearest side of the screen.
It seems odd to me that the least important thing on a TV seems to be image quality, flat panels have not progressed in 10 years imho, LCDs are starting to look as good as early plasmas, but not better.
