Okay not quite home cinema, but I've never found the 3D IMAX experience that great, tends to be dark and a little blurry. On the last visit we were sat towards the front (so that I had to turn my head to see what was happening on the sides of the screen) and I found that if I shut my right eye, my left eye could only see the left 2/3rds of the screen, because the bridge of my nose was in the way. And the same the other way if I shut my left eye.

So basically the 3D effect was only active for 1/3rd of the screen at any time. This would be a problem for a substantial amount of IMAX seats.

Have I just discovered this phenomenon or is the nose-bridge-obstacle a recognised drawback of 3D cinema?

And no, I don't have an abnormally large nose. smile

Isn't that the problem with 3D anyway, which is why they have been experimenting with laser projectors to increase the brightness.
