refoam / recondition wharfedale teesdales
Discussion
As part of my quest to recreate the music system I had as a teenager I've just bought a pair of tatty wharfedale teesdale SP2s off ebay for the princeley sun of £3.20p
As expected the foam woofer surrounds are shot but the tweeters and mid range units seem fine.
SO I need a midlands based speaker repairer who can take on the refoaming operation.
I've watched you tube vids of doing it at home and it looks fiddly and I'd just rather pass it over to someone who's done it before so i can concentrate on refurbing and bracing the cabinets and taking a look at the crossovers ready for it to go back together.
Does anyone have any suggestions in south yorks /derbys / notts areas for refoaming?
cheers.

Audioloudspeakers are not near the midlands but are one of the few who can replace surrounds properly rather than fitting an 'alternative' driver instead. http://www.audioloudspeakers.co.uk/aboutus.shtml
I could be wrong but I don't think Wilmslow Audio repair drivers; I think their repair service involves finding alternative drivers. This isn't meant to be a criticism of Wilmslow, they are a good outfit who I've used and I'd be happy to recommend, but they may not be able to keep the Teesdales as close to original/authentic as Audioloudspeakers can.

Can you clarify the size of the woofer. I remember the Teesdale has having a 38cm doped cloth roll surround but I see online a Dutch company offering an 8" foam surround for the Teesdale sp2 at around 8 Euros.
Replacement is quite easy as long as there is a way to centre the cone whilst fixing the new surround. I've done a few similar speakers and have removed and send refitted the centre dust cover so you can use some thin card to keep voice coil in position relative to magnet.
If you decide to have a go and need talking through it, just ask.
