After some advice as im looking to get sky in my 'house'

I live in a self contained granny flat/ annex next to my parents house, it has no phone line and the wifi signal from the main house is poor at the best of times, im wondering if sky would be able install a sky+ box into my place because of the lack of phone line and very sketchy internet signal. I know at our old house with multi room we had to connect the boxes up to the phone line and they said that this was to check that the boxes were being used at the houses they were ment to.

Thanks

The contract requirement has now gone away to be connected to a phone line, however I think this is because there is an expectation you will connect to broadband. Then you will be all sharing the same router connection and therefore every box is at the same address.

It is possible to argue with Sky that it is not possible to connect to the phone or internet and still only pay the £10 multiroom fee.

Is all the electricity in your parents house and your annex coming through one meter?

This may help

What channels do you want to view from Sky?

I should add... Sky dials out on the telephone line about once a month.

If you have a very very long phone cord - you can just plug the thing into a phone socket - and manually force a dial back.
Then when you are finished - rewind the cable and store in a drawer for another 3 weeks.

I have done this in the past.

Most boxes callback via broadband now. My box hasn't been plugged in for the last year at least.

OP, I have some friends and family codes if you decide to go ahead. Just PM me.

Details:
"Friends without Sky TV

Your mates can get Sky TV half price for a year when they take the Family Bundle - just £16.50 a month for 12 months. Plus they’ll get a Sky+ HD box (£10 set up fee applies). And that’s not all – they can also add half price Sky Movies and Sky Sports, both available with half price HD (the Complete Bundle) - saving more than £425 over 12 months."

I had Sky installed about a year ago.

The installer wasn't interested in connecting it to a phone line, he set it up via broadband.

It has never been connected to a phone line, but I use movies on demand all the time. Don't think I've tried any other on demand services, but happy to give it a go.

No need for a telephone line any more. Single boxes haven't needed to be connected for a long time now. No On Demand without an Internet connection though.
