LG tv has stopped working but standby light is still on?
Discussion
90% of the time (possibly more) when a flat screen TV fails it is a capacitor in the power supply. Planned failure really, they choose to put nice cheap 85 degree C capacitors in the toasty hot power supply, knowing that they will fail in not many years and people will think they are unrepairable or can't be bothered.

I suspected it might be something doable, the telly is probly under 2 years or so old. If it's a capacitor for the power supply, how come the standby light still works tho?
I am not electrically savvy, btw.

The power circuit is separate from the standby circuitIf it's a capacitor for the power supply, how come the standby light still works tho?

Yes the great Capacitor problem. I have a 40 inch Samsung here that was going to be chucked out, it cost me £1.99 to repair.
Did you do it yourself tho?Took it apart and it was obvious what ones were dead. They had bulged/split on the top. Identified the correct ratings (voltage/capacitance) but changed them for a higher operating temperature.
Been working now without fault for about 4 odd years and is our main TV.

we had this exact issue with an LG TV, bought from richer sounds and after a bit of hassle they changed it for a newer model - only six months old or so.
Good luck - post if you get it sorted
Will do, having a look at it in a bit. I suspect i'll let a proper lectrician do it tho, i'm a danger to myself and others with this kind of thing.Good luck - post if you get it sorted
