I don't get 4k unless you go 60" plus and sit a few meters away to pixel peep!
who does that ? and have you seen a SD picture on a 4k TV , it's rancid !!!!!
HD is fine on a TV imo if TV was 1080p, 1st we need the TV people to output good HD streams real HD 1080p, most are crap.
watch a blurray though and HD looks great, has nothing to do with 4K vs HD imo.
then you have the TV issues, LCD is not great, Plasma is far better but cannot buy them.
so that leaves you with OLED which imo is over rated atm and NOT flat !! we need good priced flat OLED screens, I know LG are about to release some.
and last streaming 4k !!! I have Netflix hardwired with 80meg fibre line and it can pause now and again, streaming 4k , well forget it.
shame Plasma is gone and a shame you cannot get 1080P on TV programs
seems pointless this 4k thing when nothing is even 1080P yet ! to a point like I said watching 1080i on a 4K TV is pants

Am I right in thinking that there is no 'standard' for 4k transmission yet, so some 4k TVs would not be compatible with some 4k programs?
I could have dreamt that!
I've heard similar things, however the Samsung come with their "future ready" boxes which supposedly will deal with that for a few hundred quid.I could have dreamt that!

I thought some broadcasters might be skipping 4k entirely and they were already concentrating on 8k?
The problem with 8K (and of course 4K) as has already been pointed out is that the amount of data is far too large. I'd never seriously be able to stream 4K unless you could 'download' the program in advance and then watch it.PorscheGT4 said:

I have Netflix 4k and a 50mb package and its solid as a rock so i'd say that's more likely a problem with your ISP.seems pointless this 4k thing when nothing is even 1080P yet ! to a point like I said watching 1080i on a 4K TV is pants
Agree with your comments about 1080p. Everything is compressed a lot anyway so whether its 1080p or 4k doesnt seem to be the most important point to worry about.
That said, i'm enjoying watching Better Call Saul on 4k and it does seem to be a bit better than the 1080p stream. I think most people would struggle telling a 1080p blue ray and 4k netflix stream apart....
I have a few 4k clips i have downloaded and they are pretty amazing.
