Used to have a full Naim set up with Dynaudio Focus 220's but a severe rehash of the room has seen it all replaced with a Muso.

I used to think I needed floor-standers. Then I picked up some old B&W DM110s for next to nothing.

My set-up is fairly budget conscious, but they are surprisingly good! They deliver all the bass, midrange and clarity I need.

I'd say floor standers provided you have the room. Better sound for less money smile
Bookshelf on stands !! Why they take the same room as floor standers and you need to buy the stands. WAF often means bookshelves in corners might be your only option but floor standers can sound good and be small.

Me I just went the whole hog, horns smile

Duntech Marquis for TV, Impulse H2 for the vinyl system and a DSP active 'project' for the main system. All floorstanders.

I have a pair of active open baffle dipoles in the garden; no room influence outside and no cabinet colouration. thumbup

Nothing fancy...... just floor standers Monitor Audio Silver 5i's .... used with stereo hi-fi, and also part of 5.1 set-up (monitor audio silver 10i center, mission M7Ds rears and a Dali SWA12 sub)..... all a good 10-12years and going strong....... the speakers are all used daily as part of the tv set-up so nicely worn in smile

Two systems here, both stand mounted. ProAc Studio 115s in the main music system, Rega RS1s on the other.

If I had an unlimited budget and lots of space, I'd go for floorstanders. Sadly I don't have either, so stick to stand mounts.

Edited to remove verbose waffling

Mission 752 floor standers as main stereo pair for music/movies. Always had floorstanders (although have bookshelfes for vedroom setup), if nothing else you don't have to worry about stands!

Had floodstanders. Didn't work in the room as they had to be positioned a good couple of feet away from the wall, which wasn't practical.

Now have stand mounts (AE Radiance 1's), on shot-filled oak stands. smokin

So much depends on your room.

If you have the space and the budget floor standers every time for me.
I have Audio Physic Sparks with Quad pre and power amps, a Micromega CD player and a Funk Firm Vector turntable. Sounds magical, although looking for a valve amp to complete the system, maybe a Unison but open to suggestions.
