Show Your Home AV Setup
Discussion
We've just bought our first home and something I've ALWAYS wanted was to have a wall mounted TV speaker setup - well today I realised my goal!
Looks a bit better now than it did a couple of weeks ago!
Before:
After:
A modest 3.1 setup with a 46" TV but more than enough for me and my needs!
So let's see pics of what you guys are rocking!

I do like those cabinets...
Took me blooming ages to find one that ticked all the boxes. Had to fit the amp and Virgin box on the shelves, then have cupboards big enough to house the XBOX One, NAS, Modem & Router so nothing was on display. Luckily I have a carpenter friend as there's no access to the cupboards from behind by default! He cut me out a cable management/ventilation hole behind each cupboard and the setup works well.Oakey said:

Just the one? How does it suck in cool air and exhaust warm air?
Your Xbox One must love you!
I only tend to use it for an hour or so at a time, can't imagine it being that bad? Surely people have electronic devices in hot countries where the average room temperature must exceed a cabinet in Bristol! Just the one? How does it suck in cool air and exhaust warm air?

Vincent SA-11 preamp and two Vincent 911 monoblocks.
Sources are Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit turntable through a Musical Fidelity phonostage.
Matching Musical Fidelity DAC (for the bluray player) and have the matching separate power supply as well.
Added the Vincent KHV-1 hybrid headphone amp as well to drive the AKG K-701.
Speakers are Monitor Audio Gold series GS-20, the Dali's are long gone :-)
All cables Audioquest.
Sounds really, really nice!
Grts, Pieter
Thanks, Andy.
It's taken about 10 months to build - pretty much from scratch. I've still got soem finishing touches to sort.
Between that and the day job taking over my life means no time for cars. I've not driven a car for fun in nearly two years. Very sad state of affairs.
The tide is finally turning, though...

The PJ is a BenQ W1070 and the screen is 10' diagonal. For the optimum viewing angle, this means a distance of 13' 6" from the screen - not that you'd think that from the perspective of the photo.
The BenQ really is a superb bit of kit. That image is HD fed from a Humax. On Bluray, it's nothing short of breathtaking.
It's extremely good with high ambient light levels, too. Not that it's a problem for me as the room is devoid of any windows.

Looks great. I've got a w1070. Trying to decide on the screen size at the moment and in between a 106" and 120" (like yours). My main seating distance is similar, though it's part of the main lounge, so quite a bit of ambient light. Is the 120" just right for you?The PJ is a BenQ W1070 and the screen is 10' diagonal. Looks like you have the BenQ quite flush mounted to the ceiling - what mount are you using if you don't mind me asking (looking for a mount too!)

The 120" is a great size and is the limit of what I could fit. If you can accomodate that size screen and can sit at the right distance, go for it. Just be sure you have adequate clearance for speakers etc. Looks like you have the BenQ quite flush mounted to the ceiling - what mount are you using if you don't mind me asking (looking for a mount too!)
I don't know what it's like with ambient light, but turning on the 6 LED spots I have, they don't massively impact on the image quality. It's still very watchable. Of course, it will depend on how much light and where it's coming from in your room but this is one of the strengths of this PJ.
It's not flush mounted. I couldn't find much in the way of flush mount brackets for this PJ. Plus, the ceiling height is approximately 7' so I'd be smashing my face into it at any opporunity.
I fitted a noggin bewteen two of the joists and fixed it to that. That way, it's tighter to the ceiling than a flush mount - although not as straight forward as I had to cut the celing boards to gain access to the claw and feed the cables. I'm still working on a fascia/cowling to blend it in more discretely.
Nothing startling, but it fits my room well. The chimney breast is fake, I built it just to house the tv. A tube runs up to the tv from under the floor which goes to an av cupboard in a hall next to the living room which houses the receiver, ps4, cctv, broadband, patch panel for networking to other rooms etc. Where remote controls are required to control things like the receiver I installed an infrared sender, so everything can be controlled from the couch.

Not as "cinema" as some on here, but my humble setup works very well for a lived in lounge, with 3 little kids tearing the place apart.
