A tube runs up to the tv from under the floor which goes to an av cupboard in a hall next to the living room which houses the receiver, ps4, cctv, broadband, patch panel for networking to other rooms etc. Where remote controls are required to control things like the receiver I installed an infrared sender, so everything can be controlled from the couch.

Every set up on this thread is great, I like how the sound set up is just as, or even more important then the TV set up.

It's a 40" Samsung 8000 series TV chosen as its the biggest that would fit beside the fireplace.
The TV and the KEF centre channel speaker are mounted on a heavy duty scissor bracket.
Cables to the TV are in a conduit in the wall.
Cables to the speakers are under the floorboards.
Speaker choice and placement were a compromise between minimalist looks and performance which I think we have done pretty well. They crank out some pretty convincing sound considering how little visual bulk they are. My favourite bit is the toughened glass on the top of the odd shaped tv cabinet and the drinks cabinet at the rear, especially the holes in the glass for the speaker cable.
The plantation shutters block all the light if necessary.
I put a lot of thought into this system and am really happy with it.

We cleared out some old items that no longer get used.....left with a much tidier setup of things we do 
Recently discovered Sonos, so we have the Play:5 here.
55" Samsung with Bu-ray & 5.1 system: works well for our "snug".
Hoping to work on the main lounge next year...just a conservatory to pull down and proper sunroom "orangery" to get up first.

If your AV amp has a spare input you could get a Sonos Connect and plug that into the 5.1 system them move the Play 5 to the new room.Recently discovered Sonos, so we have the Play:5 here.

How do you get on with the TV mounted that high? Looks like we'll need to do similar at our new place and I can't help thinking it'll be uncomfortable Here's my effort, had a chimney breast built as previously the TV was mounted on the same wall with wires everywhere just looked a right mess!

The picture is a bit unclear but that is not the top of the ceiling, I would say it is just mounted slightly above halfway up the wall, viewing is fine I watch the TV on the sofa sitting up or lazing on the sofa - I'll try and get a better pic for you of the whole wall at the weekend! paralla said:

Funnily enough we have a Connect...but for use in the "main" lounge when we finish the refurbs.....the plan is for the 5 to be in the new room, this one is relatively small & won't really need the Sonos once the 5 is in the room next to it and the play:1 is in the kitchen next door!! Good system, Sonos, considering we only really discovered and invested in the past couple of months, very impressed!peterattheboro said:

WDTV box has been replaced with a full blown PC now controlled by a Samsung Galaxy tablet.
They all look great. A genuine question as more of a music than AV person, but you all seem to have pretty big speakers positioned very close to walls. Do they not boom? Are AV setups different in this regard?
I've struggled with quite modestly sized speakers being less than a foot or two from the back wall.
Perhaps I have odd tastes or I have been buying the wrong speakers...

Here's mine... Monitor Audio Gold in-wall for LCR, each with a dedicated, sealed section built into the wall; Speakercraft 12" sub with back box also built into wall.
Running at 7.1 with in-wall Monitor Audio to the sides of the sofa and Monitor Audio Radius HD90 at the rear.
Sounds terrific, and also very impressive with music in multi channel stereo mode..

Some nice kit on this thread!..
This is mine, still a work in progress but getting there (how my girlfriend has let me get away with this in the spare room i'll never know!), just need to move the screen up a couple of inches (the speaker is just a little too high) and sort out some curtains at the back.

There are things that you can do to mitigate this - depending on the speaker. Mine are rear ported so these can be blocked, plus there is a fillable chamber so I can use ballast to dampen any extraneous cabinet resonance if necessary.I've struggled with quite modestly sized speakers being less than a foot or two from the back wall.

Corners should be avoided as a rule, but if you spend a bit of time positioning them, you could make some worthwhile improvements.
Got rid of the projector, the processor, the speakers etc. etc. and gone simple, very simple.
I have had enough of dedicated rooms that we never used, or living rooms that look like an AV store.
