Denon UD-M30 Query
Discussion
Hi, Don't know if anyone will be able to help with this but worth a try... I've just bought a Denon UD-M30 off ebay to help reduce the size of my hi-fi! I want to connect my Pro-Ject Debut II (NC 507.0) turntable but I'm not having any luck. Do I need a phono pre-amp? If so, does it matter which one? I don't want to spend too much. Thanks
Also does the same apply for my ipod? Ive got a cable with 3.5mm jack on one end and red & white outputs on the other but getting no sound through the Denon.

Is this the one:http://www.kenrockwell.com/audio/denon/ud-m30.htm
You do ned a phono pre-amp - they are pretty cheap: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_9?url=s...
But your iPod should be working. Perhaps the unit is damaged?
I'd try moving connections / pressing buttons if you haven't already.
Does the CD work?

A phono pre-amp will need to match what catridge you have - either moving magnet or moving coil. Some of them will have the capability to run both but these tend to be more expensive. This will plug into the aux input of the system.
Try running the ipod into other inputs to check where the fault may lay. It could well be the cable.
