We should be moving in around a month to another house. This does not have satellite only regular broadband - not really an issue as where we are now its actually slower!

I'd like to cut back on the Sky costs of around £75 PCM which includes internet, a basic pack, telephone and line rental. We also have Netflix which gets used a bit.

Im no tech wizz but would like ideas on what would be the best option.

This is my current system, the main TV is an LG smart tv that has a number of online options, but no record facility. Likewise we have a Roku stick in the non smart tv in the bedroom. Ive back-fed the co-ax lead in the wall to supply the tv upstairs with whats on downstairs. Ive got the audio going through my ageing Yamaha DSP amp for surround sound (still sounds great to me!)

The Roku stick has the usual number of options including the Sky channels the wife likes (Atlantic), Plex etc.

Id like to be able to record if possible, though I assume any Sky channels are not recordable other than with a Sky box along with subscription?

Ive seen fairly compact media systems, using an Android box or Windows based micro pc but really not sure if my wife could get her head around a different programme guide! Would these options require a HD to store programmes on?

Budget? Not sure, but Sky is about £700+ a year so if I can save something then all the better.
