I've just about finished my cinema setup and wondered if it was worth buying a dedicated Bluray player or just stick with the PS4? It does an ok job and apart from the 'remote' I don't really have any grumbles. Does a ps4 meet up to dedicated Bluray player standards or is there any benefit in buying a specific player?

Picture and Audio quality wise no you're not missing anything, the PQ of my old PS3 is the equal of any BR player I've tried. The stuff where a dedicated player can be better is for convenience, flexibility and possibly PQ for upscaling DVDs especially with the Oppo decks.

Worth considering whether you want all the latest online SMART apps (On-demand, Netflix, home networking etc). Upgrading a BR player is a cheap and easy solution.

My PS3 still does an excellent job and I assume the 4 is the same. It also does all the catchup and major streaming services.

PS4 does a good job on BR but is worse in every way for DVD than the PS3. The main reason I got a dedicated BR player was because my fat PS3 is just so damn loud.
