Thanks VEX. That's about where my research has got me, so it seems the answer is that there isn't an elegant Pronto-based solution.

Oh well. I don't really want to replace everything at the moment, so I'll invest a bit more time into trying to sort the Squeezeboxes out.

Why do you want to turn the amps on and off remotely ?

Mines are upstairs in a cupboard permanently on - that way I don't have to dick about waiting for them to connect to the wireless network before I can stream music from them.

In fact - I never even considered turning them off.

I don't mean the Sonos amp. I have a Russound 8x8 multiroom amp that feeds ceiling speakers in different rooms. The sound from two Sky boxes, an Apple TV and the music source (currently Squeezeboxes) all go through it to the ceiling speakers.

I have Prontos and several squeezeboxs. I do have the Prontosqueeze module on my Prontos but honestly anytime saved in not having to pick up another device is moot compared to the far, far superior experience using a tablet or phone or iPod Touch to control them that I just don't bother anymore. Even if you buy a cheap Nexus tablet or some cheap Android phones without sim cards its well worth it IMO
