Recovering Programmes from an Old Tivo Box?

I have just realised that a couple of programmes I want to watch are on my old Tivo box which is at gathering dust in the lounge. When we moved house for some reason Virgin came and installed a new box, but left the old one (which was functioning perfectly).

I've spend some time searching the net, and all the info I can find seems to relate to recovering from a failed HDD, mine was working fine when disconnected. Virgin don't want to know and apparently the box will not work with my new card.

Is there a way to copy the programmes from the old one or even hook it up to a TV so I can at least watch the recordings before binning it?

What model TiVo?

you should still be able to watch what you have recorded using the old box.
Just the same as when you loose your cable feed
