Hi Guys,
Electronics aren't my forte (you probably guessed!) So our old TV went pop, we are now on the second replacement (long boring story).
The Freeview plus box (only a couple of years old) has only an aerial and Scart (IMHO the worst connectors ever invented), anyway, the new TV (with Freeview built in like our old one) has aerial, HDMI, AV ......Does anyone know what lead I need for connecting from scart of Freeview Plus to this tv?

The freeview box should have an HDMI port, so just use that to the TV. Job done.

You can get an adaptor ,from scarf to av,that is if I understand it,the yellow, red and white phono type inputs on your telly.

If its only an SD one, but guessing at only 2 years old and a PVR version that it has HD which will have an HDMI socket.

What make and model is it.

I have an early freeview box before HD channels came out and that is scart only.

A Goodmans 500GB Memory (From Sainsbury)- Definitely only scart (and aerial in and aerial out)

OK, yep only scart didn't realise they still made them in SD only.

Oh well, you'll need a Scart to HDMI converter, as its analogue to digital conversion needed.

About £25+ on Amazon or eBay etc..

Thanks for the help gents - Would the scart to av do it? A lot less expensive!

Check your TV again, a lot of newer ones have a SCART adapter/dongle supplied with them, usually a small multipoint connector with a SCART on the end.

What model of telly box is it?

The odds are there is a single scart, albeit with a adaptor needed; An example is below:

This will give the worst picture quality however (composite).. If you can get SCART to RGB, then convert to HDMi via a converter such as this, the results may be significantly better *

  • assuming you're bothered about that sort of thing of course!
