I'm having a rearly annoying problem with my home cinema system

Setup is Sky box > Onkyo Amp > Samsung TV with HDMI for each connection, controlled by a Harmony remote.

This used to work fine, but now on first turning on I get no sound & the TV displays "No Signal". Cycling between HDMI channels usually gets things working, but is a bit of a pain and sometimes requires repeating a couple of times.

Tried the usual - different HDMI ports, different cables, clanging the order the devices are switched on. Nothing makes the slightest difference. Even Google can't seem to help.

What age is the hardware.

There are a couple of generations of Onkyo with flakey HDMI boards. Best if you have model numbers

TV & Amp are about 6-7 years old

Amp - Onkyo TX-SR606
TV - Samsung LE40A656

Maybe its time to invest in some replacements, haven't done so far as 3D & Smart TV capabilities don't hold much attraction to me.

My Onkyo ( 1 year old ) has recently started to do this also

It seems to be tied into when the Sky Box updated itself - it just takes another 15 seconds to get Sky to come through to the telly.

I replaced the amp with a Yamaha RX-V479, solved the HDMI problem, which impacted the PS3 as well as sky, also got rid of a slight lip sync problem, which I could never solve as it was different on HD & SD.

I also think it sounds a bit better too, certainly speech is clearer, even though I haven't changed the speakers.

The new amp is also slightly shorter, so fits in my TV stand properly.
