Hi

I have a set of B&W P5's which I use in the office, but the clamping on my head is driving me nuts and I'm looking to replace them.

I've been reading up on the B&W P7's and Grado SR325es. Just wondered if anyone had any other recommendations. I'm partially deaf, so no audiophile, but I do like to enjoy my music and get good clarity from my phones smile

Many thanks

I have theP7's and they are very good and comfortable. The B&O H6's are also a good head fit and play well.

For use in the office mainly. I want decent sound quality, bling is not a factor.

Oppo PM-3 is a very fine headphone too, well worth a look.

I also recommend the DT770s.

I use them for work - location music recording, and another pair at home for plugging into the laptop to listen to music.

Noise rejection from outside is very good, and very comfortable to wear. These are not fashion items - these are designed and made for pros to wear all day.

By sheer coincidence Studiocare sent me an email this morning, they have a deal on at £100 inc VAT.

Don't get me wrong - I love B&W stuff - I've got tons of their speakers, but headphones are a very new move by them, and Beyer are used worldwide by pros for a reason.

I've got the 770 premium edition for home, 5 years old, and still look and perform as new. Great investment.

I'm not entirely sure of the technical difference between the 'premium' editions and the originals but they look a bit less industrial looking and more domestic. The bass is supposed to be cleaner and less boomy - probably to do with how they clamp over the ear. It's a soft 'clamp' if that makes sense.

I'd recommend the 990 if you don't need to worry about leakage either way though.

In an ideal world I'd wear my 990s all the time, as it is a more natural and much more open soundstage around the head - like night and day between the 770. However, they do let outside sound in, and a lot goes out!

I've ordered the 770's 80 ohm from Studiocare, couldn't find the 32 ohm ones. I'll report back next week on what they are like. Thanks for all your ideas.

Cheers

Review: Wow

Have been using them for a day or so now and they are so comfortable to wear. Closed off, I hear no outside noise. The sound quality is very good, and they feel like they are built to last.

Its made me order a FiiO X5 smile

Thanks for the recommendation.
