Can you buy a flat, 4K, OLED, 65" tv, or are they still all curved?
Google ...

Thanks.

(Sadly my Google let me down..)

Actually it's an interesting question.

Has anyone with a curved screen got any feedback on usage?

I will be in the market for a large new TV in the next 2-3 months so keen to hear peoples experience. In the shop I seem to feel a little giddy looking at the curved screen and wondered if it's just a case of being so close as it's not easy to watch them at a decent distance due to shop demo layouts.

I was dead set against curved. Gimmick I thought.

I was still apprehensive in the shop.

Now it's at home, I can't image having flat. Usable viewing angle is increased, and the view from in front is awesome, especially at closer distances where the curve makes more difference. We've got the 8 series Samsung 65 inch.
Thanks - is it wall mounted? I don't have space to have it on a stand has to be wall mounted and not sure how a curve would look hence why I want a flat...
Here's a pic:

http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/tv/uhdtv/m...

The curve is actually quite subtle.

Once you get over the '...that's different...' in a few minutes you just accept that as the norm and appreciate the benefits.

Go to Costco if you know someone with a card. I just bought a 79" lg. 4k ultra had. Has the smart functions, Netflix, now TV etc. I'm more than happy with it. The screen is huge and put a decent signal in and it gets even better, plus it's 3d just for an extra gimmick. In store only and a five year warrant for £4000 give or take a few pence!

Is OLED better than Samsung's Nano Crystal SUHD?

I saw that a few months ago for £3700! Is it really good? What did it replace how does it compare? Would love to hear more...79" seems MASSIVE!

How is the sound from the Harmon Kardon speakers?

Snap.

However, what were they using as a source on the one you saw?

It's not really to replace as I'm building a cinema room but as it's not finished I've put it in front if another tv, which is a 50"plasma lg. The picture with a hd signal or 4k is brilliant. You really get immersed in the films. With a standard terrestrial signal it's watchable but not great. I watch net flicks and now tv a lot on it and the picture quality is very good. I know you could start talking about the clarity of the black colours etc but I'll be honest your so immersed in the tv you don't really notice the black might not be pure black sometimes. The one I got is also 3d. They do a similar one online which is about £3700 but it's not 3d. I can't comment on the sound from the tv speakers as all my sound is through a receiver and 5.1 speakers. If your getting a big tv you need a decent sound setup to match. If your anywhere near Carlisle feel free to call by and have a look. I definitely was hesitant spending that much on a tv but I can easily say it was money well spent! Problem I have now is when I move the 79" into the cinema room the 50" is going to look tiny, so I may have to upsize it :-s

I was going to go down the projector route but decided against it after a lot of thought. My room is only 2.6 wide and the TV is 1.8 wide. And with the floor standers either side I couldn't have gone wall to wall with the picture anyway. I don't have to worry about light levels and I get a smart TV in the package. I definitely spent a lot of time thinking about projectors as my friend has one but I'm happy with my TV. Each to there own. If I'd had more width and height to the room I probably would have looked at a projector as the jump in the price of a TV from 79" to 90"+ Is massive, so a projector would win on price hands down.

Indeed. I count myself very lucky to have a very good 65 inch 4K TV.

However, when it gets to watching a film, the projector in the other room (costing 1/3 of the price of the TV) on a 120 inch screen means the TV is not even a consideration.

As an additional benefit, if you match a bright projector with a good silver screen, you have something which is perfectly usable in the day without the curtains closed.

Fantastic thanks for this much appreciated. The one I saw in store was 3D too so think they upped the price. I'll go take a look in Costcos tomorrow.

Had a look at the 79" LG at Costco and was not too impressed with the picture quality - it was playing a dvd (Lion King) and looked really fuzzy so that's out. Also had a look at the curved Samsung and that's a no go too.

I do like the look of this one: http://www.johnlewis.com/sony-bravia-kd75x8505cbu-...

Anyone here got one of these beasts? I can't find many reviews of this SONY either.

Have looked at the OLEDs and they are all curved so that's a no go too.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the Sony 65X8509C which is the slightly smaller version. I am impressed with the picture quality - and my previous TV was a Pioneer 50" plasma, itself very good indeed.

Many of the Smart features are of limited relevance (sadly) due to our very slow Internet connection - the downside of living out in the sticks. Some are handy, such as the built in Googlecast, and the ability to use your phone as a remote. It seems decent value to me - I paid £1,699 - £1,999 less £300 trade in for a worthless old set (not the Pioneer!), plus there was a free soundbar thrown in, which I will probably flog on Ebay as I have a home cinema audio setup. I did look at the LG OLEDS - the picture certainly looked dramatic but perhaps not so natural, and I prefer a flat screen to a curved one.

The only issue I have with it so far, is that I have been unable to persuade it to see the NAS box on my home network, on which I have a lot of movies and videos stored. I have a separate media player which I can connect to the TV (Asus O!Play) but it SHOULD work direct. It works fine with USB-attached storage. There is no decent manual supplied - just the usual rubbish with 5 pages in each of 50 languages - and I have not been able to find one online either. I suppose, with the software being constantly upgraded, it is something of a moving target.

Mentioned in this or the other 4K thread but have you considered the OLED flat LG. I think it only goes up to 65" but seems relatively good value.

Not on their website atm but viewed one at the weekend in John Lewis on Oxford St.
