Have looked at the OLEDs and they are all curved so that's a no go too.
Mentioned in this or the other 4K thread but have you considered the OLED flat LG. I think it only goes up to 65" but seems relatively good value.

Not on their website atm but viewed one at the weekend in John Lewis on Oxford St.
Yes I have seen this in Currys however I would like a 75'' now that I have seen some bigger sets I think I'll need to go for a bigger one smile The OLEDs above 65'' are ridiculously expensive redface

Make sure it's 4K ready (not just Amazone / Netfix).

The future TV's will be hooked up to 4K DVD players and will receive 4K braodcasts from the likes of Sky etc.

It will need to have HDMi 2 to cope with true 60 fps 4K broadcasts (some of the cheaper 4K ready TV's just upscale or have HDMi 1.4.

Here's a decent article: http://www.techradar.com/news/television/ultra-hd-...

The SONY above is not only 4k but HDR ready too - I think that is pretty much future proof!?

Ok, theoretically speaking, I'm here:

LG 65EC970V vs Samsung UE65JS9500 vs Samsung UE75JU7000

Does anybody have any thoughts? The two 65" TVs seem to alternate for the almost affordable top spot and the 75" Samsung is in contention because it's similarly priced, but bigger; is it as good?

Agreed - but I meant the Sony set has 4K and HDR and for now these are the only two signal feeds in contention I guess.

Have a look at the Sony above (75") seems to blow the JU7000 away in terms of specs.

Any reason why nobody's mentioning Panasonic? I may be looking to replace in a little bit and would prefer to keep with Panasonic as all my other kit is the same so I can limit the number of remotes without going aftermarket.

I am in the dark ages with all this so there may be a very good reason!

Thanks

The built in Android system works a dream - KODI has been installed and it's flawless! It also has built in chromecast so you can stream pretty much anything to the TV in HD! Magnificent biggrin
