I didn't realise until I looked into them, that the 50 in the name relates to a litre measurement, as in the speakers could hold 50 litres.
I'd love to know what the 100s sound like on full whack!
Can't beat cubic inches. Whether ported or transmission line, size is everything. Simply no comparison with tiny boxes with 17 drivers in or oddly shaped things.I'd love to know what the 100s sound like on full whack!
PMC even use silly names for theirs - Diddy Box, Tiny Box, Large Box and so on.

Hi Dave. Can't stop tinkering can you?! I'm just clearing out the overflow from my excessive hi-fi hoarding. Still have a full TMA set-up in the study and a Naim set-up in the main lounge. Just pondering what to use with some B&W Silver Signatures in the music room
Didn't realise you had relocated back to Yorkshire. Hope all is well for you. Keep in touch chum!
All good cheers Graham, I can relate to excessive hi-fi hoarding . There's even a system with big open baffles in the garden . No cabinets and no room...........sounds magical.Didn't realise you had relocated back to Yorkshire. Hope all is well for you. Keep in touch chum!

Bling HiFi thread? Not seen this before..well, it would be rude not to:
Digital Front End: Wadia 971/931/922
Vinyl Front End: SME 20 / SME V / Sumiko Pearwood
Pre Amp: Modified Musical Fidelity KWP
Power Amp: Modified Musical Fidelity KW Monos
Speakers: Raidho 3.1
Headphone Amp: Blinged-up Woo Audio WA5
Headphones: Sennheiser HD800
Cables: Dynamique Audio
Equipment Platforms: Silent Running Audio
Tweaks, Voodoo & Witchcraft: Keeping stumm in case the reductionists get upset
Here's a pic from before the 9 Series, the Raidho's and the WA5 arrived:
The area is currently a bit of a mess due to the challenge of fitting the 9 series and the headphone amp in, but quite happy to put up pics of individual bits if anyone is interested

Not in quite the same league as some here but,
Sources:
Meridian 588CD, Meridian 596 DVD
Rega Planar 25 LE turntable with modded RB300 arm / rega MM cartridge
Amplification:
Meridian 502 pre / 557 power
Speakers:
Martin Logan Clarity electrostatic hybrids
None of this is exactly new, but still sounds great in the limited space we've got available at home. Next mission is to child-proof the room it's all set up in!

Yeah, Stands Unique stands with SRA isolation platforms. Stands Unique closed down unfortunately, but they're great for when you have heavy equipment.
I have one of their smaller units, had it over ten years now. I always wanted that large AV unit they made but by the time I got a place with the gf they'd clsoed down. Their website is still there, like it's frozen in time!Oakey said:

Yeah, I need another stand to hold my new components, so am having to trawl ebay at the moment. There is an AV10 on there at the moment, but people are never keen on dismantling and posting them because they are so heavy, so it's just a case of waiting until one comes up locally. Is that a tab tensioned electric screen?
If so, what brand and how do you find it? - as I'm looking for one.

I'm about to upgrade my home cinema/hi-fi set up, the current kit is around 10 years old now and has 'issues'. I wondered if anyone here has experience of the kit/set up I'm looking at:
Projector JVC 35X 2D 3D Hi-def 1080
Denon AVR 3313 Amp
Denon dbt 1713 Blu ray
The bit I'm more concerned about is cabling, to save money the installer has recommended HDMI over Cat 6, has anyone done this and if so does it impair quality against going purely HDMI? Any responses gratefully received before I spunk this years holiday budget!
Have some experience from recent house build. Put in 2 cat6a wires, if the cheap passive adapters work then go with those otherwise go with a decent brand of HDBaseT eg. CYP.Projector JVC 35X 2D 3D Hi-def 1080

I've just finished tidying up my installation with my AV rack under the stairs after I relocated it all earlier this year. I had a bit of bad luck when my Arcam power amp blew a channel, but a colleague striped it down, rebuilt the blown channel and replaced all the power capacitors on all the channels...now good as new.
I added the miniDSP Dirac room eq unit earlier this year too, so yesterday's purchase of a Marantz SR6010 is only used as a processor (I may one day make use of a couple of the internal amps to power a pair of Atmos speakers, but not sure I'll bother after 5 different Atmos demos left me underwhelmed).
The Lumagen 2041 video processor was also installed this year after my previous 'mini3D' model developed a fault and they gave me a cracking trade in deal against this ex demo unit. Combined with Chromapure software and a good quality sensor, the Lumagen can perform an automatic calibration of my projector (and TV) in about 25 minutes to 729 colour points and 11 points on the greyscale: I can't live without a Lumagen now, which will make the eventually upgrade to 4K very expensive (so will have to wait a long while). However, the second hand JVC X500 gives a cracking picture fed via the Lumagen, so I can live with this for a number of years now.
This is how it stands at the moment, though next spring we're having French doors installed, so the room will have to be striped down, giving me chance for a rebuild. Possibly reversing the layout and using the back wall for the screen/TV which would then be a fabric covered wall with speakers/subs inside.
Oldpicture, the Oak subwoofer is long gone replaced with a pair of 15" sealed 1500 watt(!) DIY subs that run flat down to 10Hz at over 110dB:
One of the new subs, disguised as a side table:
Rear view of the room showing the wall mounted MK speakers and the 'floating' shelf I made for the projector:
The room needs darker walls/ceiling to get more out of the projector, so the plan for next year is for electrically operated black velvet side curtains to reduce reflections from the side walls.
