I was wondering whether anyone or hopefully a number of people could suggest the best solution to my home entertainment construction?

I am not looking for anything too complicated. I wanted to stream Sky around the house. At the moment we just use an aerial splitter and then rely on an analogue signal to distribute the sky around the house. Seems a bit pointless having the HD channels with the current set-up!

I can at least change channel with an IR sensor, but it isn't anywhere near perfect.

So does anyone know what would be the best way to distribute the signal around the house in HD...we are rewiring the house at the moment so now is the perfect opportunity!

Thank you in advance

Without getting into a detailed discussion regarding system design and wiring solutions the principle is simple.

You can use CAT5e or CAT6 to send video around your home, so where ever you choose to locate your Sky box you star wire cable to each TV. Always run at least two to each location but you only need one for this to work.

The simplest solution is to use a product like this...

... to split your HD signal and share on multiple TVs. Keep the RF connection in place and the remotes will still work. Where it gets a little more complicated is using multiple source to each telly - but this will work fine at a pretty sensible budget.

There are several different ways of doing this.

I always advocate the cat5/6 wiring that hashe been mentioned above, however for the past couple of projects we have used a HD Modulator which takes the HDMI output and creates a freeview HD channel to float around the house on the coax network.

Identical to what you are currentlying doing with the analogue channel but in the new digital domain.

Thanks for the help....it certainly offers a far better set of options than what I am using at the moment.

I am quite interested in the mHub from HDanywhere. I have Cat5 cable throughout the house already smile I live in a silly old cottage which has 2' thick walls and not great with WiFi!

What are people's thoughts on waiting for Sky to release their Q? That looks as though it does pretty much what I want??

It will need a new dish and LNB but cable should be ok But the fact you have cat5 already in place will help massively, I am doubtful over the effectiveness of ether net of power stuff they are proposing.

Lots more details still missing and I am getting / expecting more details from our trade side over the coming weeks.
