I'm gutted because I probably spent £2-300 and lots of effort on installing cabling, loft box, HDMI splitter, DVB-T modulator, wall plates to spread an HD picture around my house about 6 weeks ago.
I'm guessing with that lot you can watch your sky in any room?Ask yourself what else sky q will do for you?
If you are going to be watching one box on one screen and not using tablets etc to watch then stick with what you have got. Remember you can control your skybox via an app.
So you unless you want different channels in different rooms or want to sit on the loo with your iPad I'm not sure what sky q brings to the party.

- It would give me the ability to watch different content in cinema room and lounge
- It would get rid of the cables running over the outside of my house
- It would get rid a tonne of the cables in my AV centre in my cinema room that is currently a bit of a mess (these things bother me)
- It would give me dolby digital audio output in both cinema room and living room (just stereo passed over the DVB-T signal)
- It would do away with the modulator which, has a tendency to glitch a reasonable amount and cause picture disruption
- It would get rid of the delay on my Sky remote when using the magic eye (though I do use the app sometimes)

Pay for as many mini boxes as you need and off you go (at a cost)
The loft box will be redundant 2 cables to the primary box all others pair to main box wirelessly.
You may still be able to use the modulator, assuming its connected to your primary box via an HDMI lead.
If the modulator is glitching it may be running too high they normally have a very high output it may pay you to turn the gain down. Also check it is not outputting on an allready occupied mux.

Is the new LNB a quad?
No - it's a new wideband type. Dual outputs just for Q, although there is a new hybrid version with support for both Q & normal equipment, but it's not clear under what circumstances they'll install it.Welshbeef said:

BOSE ???!
Are you off your rocker?
I've always liked them and thought the sound quality really good. Are you off your rocker?
Who would you suggest to better it (£2-3k territory)
Could you link the Bose kit you're considering?

O... Other
S... Sound
E... Equipment
As it is known within the A/V trade, you could outperform a £2500 Bose system with £1250 spent on conventional A/V equipment

Sky confirmed yesterday that the UHD versions of Sky Sports and Movies will be included in those packs at no extra charge with the Silver bundle.
Amazed - assumed they'd want more for them.
Can't find any info on this, do you have a link?Amazed - assumed they'd want more for them.
I work for Sky and had the opportunity to trial the Sky Q box but turned it down. It's a great thing certainly but i think i'm going to leave it at least 6 months before i think about getting it myself plus Sky + is just as good for what i use it for. If i need to record 3 programmes at once i just look for the +1 channel and record it on there.

Noooooo the +1 channel isn't HD, how can I be expected to watch something that isn't HD, what am I, an animal?I wish Sky and the other broadcasters would make their +1 channels HD, but with Sky Q being rolled out I cant see that happening. Why have Sky stuck to two tuners for sooo long?!

I'd be interested to know how the new Q boxes can run multiple tuners off a single pair of cables from the LNB but the old boxes had to have one cable per tuner. Anyone know what's changed?
The LNB has changedThe Q box will require a completely new type of LNB
Therefore you will not be able to mix types of boxes without a hybrid LNB nor will you be able to run sky q on communal reception systems. I expect in time there may be adapters for such systems.
