Pressing the Sky logo will take you directly to your recordings. HTH
Yeah sorry I remembered that the engineer had shown that particular feature to me - I had forgotten.I was more referring to when in your planner, the grid view with the pictures and the layout in general seems harder to navigate. Basically, I hate the pictures!

Anybody have any update on if moving to Sky Q loses the F1 we get through the legacy HD pack I am on?
Looking online they want £99 for box, £50 for install, and my monthly payments go up by £17.75 (£19.75 from June)
I have, When looking at my online account:
Variety
Sky 3D
Sky Sports F1
Skt+HD box
Sky+HS box
HD Pack
These cost £47.50 (reduced by £11.25 offer at the mo)
Sky Fibre Unlimted £20 (reduced by £10 offer at the mo)
Sky talk evenings £4
Sky Line Rental £17.40
So total current cost £82.65 (£67.65 with offers)
Under what you've added (if I add Q online) it says
Sky Q Silver TV
Sky Q bundle
Sky Q silver bundle all at £54
Do these replace the packages above?
The New monthly costs is £85.40 so current pack plus £17.75 so were does the £54 fit in?
How are people only paying a few £ extra a month?
Would really like it, but its going to be £20 per month extra> I only recently removed movies and multiroom recenlty (and got some offers) to reduce costs, so I will gain multiroom function through Mini box, but with an additional £8 per month for the Q experience.
Anybody have any advice on a cheaper way to do it, and if I would keep F1 without adding sports?

It's been confirmed many times that the f1 will stay without Sports if you have Legacy HD Pack. If they weren't going to use this as an excuse to get rid of it I'd imagine it will stay for a while yet.
But is it not the case that my current packs, ie variety, hd, sky3d etc will be replaced by the q bundle, q silver bundle stuff?Or do I keep all my existing packages?

Anyone else have an issue with recordings not playing audio? If you stop start rewind quit etc it will start playing with sound other time it just works fine though
Not quite the same but possibly related, the audio's occasionally out of sync, also fixed with a quick rewind/play. It hasn't been frequent enough to raise with Sky yet, though.MissChief said:

I can't believe people are paying hundreds of pounds a month to subscribe to a TV channel that forces you to watch adverts every 15 minutes. Where do you guys see the value in this?
OK I'll bite. I mostly prerecord programs to watch as and when it's convenient for me. The SKY HD box is ideal for that purpose and I expect the SKY Q system will add more flexibility to that. Having recorded programs I'm able to FF through ads and also stop watching to attend to other activities and then resume later. The only sport I follow is F1 and SKY currently have the best coverage. So the value for me is that with very few exceptions, I can watch what I want, when I want and in which room I want.
Although 'hundreds of pounds a month' is a bit of an exaggeration, SKY is still expensive and depending on one's requirements that may or may not be good value for money.
Then again, how many PHs pay way over the odds to buy and run fast or interesting cars, when a modest family hatchback would do the job much more efficiently.
Agree with the above. Convenience, variety, flexibility, ease of use.
Nobody is paying hundreds of pounds a month. About the most you can possibly spend is £130 and few people will have a package of that size.
Several of the items (phone, broadband) aren't unique to sky. So maybe £80 a month for a top level subscriber, much less if you don't have movies and sports.
A decent DVR is about £300 and that will be limited to freeiview. So if you buy one of those you're paying £25 a month for that for the first year. PLus phone and broadband - so more like £55 - £60 a month.
Doesn't seem that expensive compared to that for all the additional content, if you ask me.

Good posts above answering the why Sky question.
It certainly makes the job of watching what you want, ignoring ads and all the between programme fluff very easy. The one thing that still really irritates me, and it's not Sky's fault but that of the BBC is that it's so easy to store up episodes in a series to catch at a later and more convenient time then easy to forget how I player works means that recorded BBC programs obtained from catch up are automatically deleted after a relatively short time. For example started recording the Night Manager, few episodes in the bag and go to watch finding that episode 1 now deleted. Have to wait for the rerun.
But if you do record it on Sky from the live broadcast it's kept longer, so in effect it's a better service than the BBC in thus way.
The other issue is that for some reason we have very few Freeview channels, so it's either still putting up a dish and going for FreeSat or Sky, such is life in the sticks.

Well I don't watch alot of TV but stuff is on Netflix/Prime/iPlayer/Even download it.So the value for me is that with very few exceptions, I can watch what I want, when I want and in which room I want.

Netflix at less than £10 and can be watched by 2 people in different countries/cities.
Also, streaming TV through a satellite dish that's attached to your house just seems so old fashioned to me. Why do they insist on broadcast > record to a hard drive when netflix have it on a server for you to watch whenever? I can't be the only one thinking this is an extremely old fashioned method?
It is old fashioned, but then you can also download a lot of it, which without Sky you wouldn't have access to.
The reality is until you can easily download everything that you actually want to watch, and that is current, similar to Netflix, Sky is the best option.
Adverts will play a big part of that too, which is one issue.

Another question from me - is there a shortcut to delete stuff? Used to be press yellow. Now it's select, right, right, delete. Cumbersome...

For those that aren't aware, changing the box to 1080p doesn't mean you're getting a 1080p feed, as Sky broadcast HD content at 1080i. It just means the box is upscaling it rather than your TV, and that it is doing a better job than your TV.
That was my next question, whether Sky are actually broadcasting in 1080p yet. I wouldn't have bet that it wasn't just me convincing myself that it looks better but subjective view is all I've got when it comes to looking with my eyes!Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
