What package do you have at the moment Patch?
I'm on the Legacy package.Going to try again later today with the dept that deals with the Q as I was doing it through home movers hopefully get someone who can sort it out.
Had lots of fun trying to connect the Mini Box to the Main Sky Q Box at distance of about 10 yards, a second visit by the engineer was needed and a booster box in the hall, this worked while he was here but stopped the next day, after reading about the Engineer Menu I enabled the Ethernet Connection and with the cable connected everything works perfectly.
The engineer while he was here was adamant he could not use the Ethernet Cable

THis morning mini box has decided it can't show any live TV.
Recordings streamed from the main box work fine, as does the "online video" feature so it isn't a connectivity issue as far as I can tell.
Will try the software update later to see if that fixes it!
A number of other flaky things happen, like it decides to show a big black box over the top of the show preview images, and frequently the "progress" bar doesn't show when rewinding or fast forwarding, so it does appear there are still some niggles to sort out.
Missing start from is a step back as mentioned above, and I still hate the images, makes navigating through content so much more cumbersome than it was on sky+
A few weeks in and it's still largely a positive change in our household though.

Another snag here. Watching a recording on the iPad, which then stopped half way through, with an error saying an unknown error had occurred, please reconnect to the sky Q box.
Playing any other recordings or live TV on the iPad does not work. I just get a message saying an unknown error has occurred and to reconnect to the Sky Q main box.
I have all the recordings visible on the iPad app.
In settings, I have ticks for play by Sky Q app and mini box. What I have noticed is the TV Guide is an hour behind - it still shows 9:00 pm and it is now 10:20.
We have two iPads, and both doing the same thing with same errors, in the same room as the main box. Sky Q mini box working fine.
Any one seen this or have any Thoughts? How do I reconnect the app to the box?

Spoke to SKY and they got me to do a hard re-set.
Switch everything off at the mains (router, silver & mini). Then switch them back on in order - router 1st, allow it to make internet connection then switch silver box on. Allow that to fully boot up then switch mini on.
All working fine again.
The whole sound issue is getting on my nerves. When playing back movies which are on Dolby, the voices are lowered (usually centre speaker). Reading on the Sky Q forums it appears to be a known issue by Sky, who need to find a patch for it.. I think impacts those with amps, running HDMI into the Sky Q box..
Also having to reset the minibox's is a pain..

just a quick question for those using an Ethernet set-up: I'm due to get my installation done next weekend and was just wondering does the Ethernet set-up mean a cable going direct from the main box to the mini box, or does it (can it) pass through a router?
Presume the latter, but just want to check.
Thanks

It goes through a router but the Ethernet port may be turned off by default as they prefer to connect via wifi.Presume the latter, but just want to check.
