1 - There's no mirroring, each box works independently so you'd have to put them on at the same time.
2 - I've seen reports that it works, I can't see why it wouldn't.
3 - Powerline has not yet been enabled, so you're best bet would be to buy some standalone ones that plug in to the mains.

I just had a call from Sky welcoming me to Sky Q and to ensure I'm getting the most from it. It turned out to be a precursor to offering me insurance for it. I asked why on earth I would want insurance for equipment I was renting which Sky would have to repair/replace anyway? She said it was to cover against accidental damage!!! She did at least have the decency to sound slightly embarrassed. This has got to be akin to a scam surely!
Had a similar call when I took out sky+ 4 months ago. The prick go so shirty with me I not only told him to stick his kind offer up his Arse I also cancelled another policy I have had with d&G for years on a built in dishwasher. They are going to be the next payment protection scandal!

That explains it, no Sky Router. Thanks for setting me straight.
I will just get another TP link to boost the coverage.
Going back to this subject, if I should happen across a new Sky Q Router does anyone know if it could be used as a direct substitute for my current BT Homehub on BT Broadband?I will just get another TP link to boost the coverage.
For a minimal outlay I could possibly have a great wifi network and be in a position to utilise all the powerline technology Sky have built into the Q boxes but not yet activated.

You can't even sell them as the logins are set to the account they're given to.
I'm struggling with that. There are several on sale at eBay. It then becomes a question of whether plugged into BT broadband it would accept my BT user credentials. As I understand it is already possible to substitute a BT Home Hub with some other manufacturers offering I'm not sure I see why if it came from Sky it would be any different.

Thanks for the feedback! The Sling community seems vague on compatibility, but I might chance it, as I can get a deal from Sky on it.2 - I've seen reports that it works, I can't see why it wouldn't.

re: #3 - powerline has been enabled, you can select it in Settings. We had a bit of occasional signal dropout with the older AV500 plug but swapped it for an AV1000 and it now works a treat.2 - I've seen reports that it works, I can't see why it wouldn't.

Without going in to the hidden menu? I haven't looked as our house is terrible for itCan someone answer a few questions?
What range does the bluetooth remote have? I need it to control a Q Silver, which is in a nextdoor room, about 15m away, two doors and a cupboard. (replacing an HD box)
I can still use a standard Sky HD remote correct? So I can still send the IR over a link of some sort? (currently has HD over CAT 5 extenders with IR)
The Q Silver and Minis form their own Wifi network correct? Can they use fixed ethernet cabling, via a switch?

We split the silver box between the two downstairs rooms, and use the bluetooth remote in the kitchen. What range does the bluetooth remote have? I need it to control a Q Silver, which is in a nextdoor room, about 15m away, two doors and a cupboard. (replacing an HD box)

Distance is about 10m with a wall and some furniture on that wall. The bluetooth remote is a bit flaky at that range so I think you won't be able to use it in the scenario you describe but can't hurt to try. Our Sky Q box is in an alcove so it's possible the chimney breast is causing most of the problems.
You get two remotes with the silver box - one IR one bluetooth, so it's still IR.
what is the set up you need to use the 'powerline' function to connect mini-box?
I currently have powerline adapter plugged in to my NON-sky router in the study. Then a powerline adapter in the living room with the sky-q main box connected via it's LAN port.
I'd like to set up the mini-q in the kitchen where i have another powerline adapter with lan port. Do I just connect the mini-q via a LAN cable to the 3rd powerline adapter?
