I'm seriously coming to the end of my tether with Sky Q. The newest behaviour is the mini box fails to communicate with the main box, so I have to go downstairs to turn on the main box which takes about 5 minutes to turn on which then fixes it.
If there was any other service out there even remotely comparable I'd just get shot of Sky at this point.

Me too- wish I'd just stayed on HD- black recording last night and mini boxes (one worse than the other) need restarting/reconnecting at least once a weekIf there was any other service out there even remotely comparable I'd just get shot of Sky at this point.
After 3 hours on the phone last Thursday we are having a second site visit after install were the engineer will be armed with replacement main box and 3 minis in case all 4 units need replacing. When it works it is fantastic but it does feel as though we are all part of a huge beta test that we are paying handsomely for.

Since launch I have only found 1 faulty box.
All the other problems I have come across including all those mentioned in this thread are caused by. Poor wifi connectivity and or incorrect set up as well as software issues.
Changing boxes will not resolve the issue.
OK, so the engineers have all said my wifi connectivity is very good, but I've seen it being patchy or even just not available at times. All the other problems I have come across including all those mentioned in this thread are caused by. Poor wifi connectivity and or incorrect set up as well as software issues.
Changing boxes will not resolve the issue.
So, assuming wifi is my problem, what is the solution? Powerline doesn't work or isn't ready - so what do I do?

What symptoms do you have?
If it is connectivity issues it can be lost of things including intermittent interference caused by lots of different things. The simplistic solution is to hard wire the boxes.
If it's a software issue there is nothing you can do.

1.) Mini box freezes and has to be hard powered on/off several times a week
2.) Main box gets "stuck" and won't turn on, blue "Q" light pulses for a few minutes then the box comes to life
3.) wifi periodically shows full signal but no internet - wired devices work fine
If hard wiring is the solution, that's fine - but I have to do it at my own expense because the ethernet over power isn't working right, would that be correct?
New software version today
Q003.001.25.00L
Start at the main box check software if not up to date update it. Once finished reboot box by putting into standby box will reboot and install new software takes a bit longer than normal reboot. Once back on up date each mini box ONE AT A TIME but do not reset any of the mini boxes untill they have all updated.
Once all are reset and back on check they have the same software version on all the boxes.
I can't comment on the quality of your wifi connectivity without being on site.
Sky will hardwire it if necessary but only a few engineers have the necessary skill sets to do it so it can be a bit of a faff to arrange.

There are still some annoyances in the menu system (give me a TV Guide button FFS!),
Being addressed apparently. At the moment, when you press the button with the house on it, it jumps to top picks and you have to scroll up to tv guide, soon it'll jump to tv guide and you'll have to scroll down for top picks or whatever else.TwigtheWonderkid said:

Finally got mine installed, wireless, but the engineers put a booster in to connect the mini hub upstairs.
Think it dopped off for a few seconds once, but otherwise been great.
The new menu system takes a bit of getting used to after Sky +, and that bloody touch remote is now in the back of "that" drawer all the shyte remotes are in.
