by the way the sky q router and hub connection is shockingly bad. do not install using wi-fi. even with a booster its shyte.
The wifi connectivity works fine if it's in range. If it's on the edge it will have problems

I have since moved the booster and re-set connections and all is well.

Hi all, didn't want to start a new thread so here's my issue preceeded by a short preamble. Just moved house and just had Sky Q installed, so far no problems other than slow start up from standby, broadband coming on song December 2nd rolleyes.

My problem - how do I watch 'Spectre' in UHD? I saw it advertised that it's available to watch in UHD and I have the 2tb box, a brand new Samsung UHD TV and I have set the settings on the sky box to UHD.

When I was watching Sky sports premier league match a prompt said I could switch to UHD so I did, it worked and looked amazing but I can't figure out how to watch a UHD available movie. I recorded Spectre but it's just in HD, couldn't see how to switch it, then I watched it live in case you can't switch to UHD during a recording but no option, no prompt and no UHD.

Any help please!

Go to Sky Cinema, then move right to the sub-menu. Scroll down to Ultra HD. You should see it.

Assuming you have changed the resolution to the highest settings? Might not get the UHD option if not.

Hmm. I don't get a sub menu when scrolling right in the Sky Cinema section. Maybe I will have to wait until the broadband is sorted to access this?

Quick question, (I've googled but the answers are conflicting) can I use both the main Q box and the mini on wired ethernet connections? I don't want to use wi-fi or powerline as my house is hard wired with Cat5e cable. I have Sky Broadband but use a TP-Link Archer VR900 router as theirs is crap.

Ah, it's not connected to broadband at all? That would explain it. I assumed you had some other provider at the moment. As far as I'm aware, UHD content is streamed unless it's live sport. The only movies you can watch are what's on 'live'.

Ah, perfect, thanks for clearing that up. Yes no broadband / wifi whatsoever at the moment - it's like the world has ended with certain members of the family! Me mainly banghead That's cool, at least I know it's not an issue, roll on December.

Like the touchpad remote.
Was there a way to hide the pause menu at the bottom of the screen?

Press exit. Only once as twice will go back to live/planner.

Have ordered Sky Q, which is due to be installed in a couple of weeks, but when I listen to the radio adverts the words are 'selected programs less than 90 days old can be transferred to tablets and smart phones'

What does it mean by selected??

Most can but it depends on the licence and potentially the channel they've been recorded from. You wouldn't be able to transfer your box office boxing for example either.

BBC content is one of them, you have to use iPlayer instead.

I've found that you need to enter the pin of programs every episode.

We downloaded Hunted.

Every episode we have to re-enter the PIN which on my OH's old original Sky+ HD was maybe a once a week occurance.

Can the Sky Q box be coded to also provide TV controls as per the current Sky+ HD box?

If so then are the codes the same?

Yes, I think that's taken care of during set-up from what I recall.

Yes it can. As for the codes, you don't need them as it's all automated. The SkyQ box automates the process all you have to do is confirm when it's worked.

Being addressed apparently. At the moment, when you press the button with the house on it, it jumps to top picks and you have to scroll up to tv guide, soon it'll jump to tv guide and you'll have to scroll down for top picks or whatever else.
I have programmed a key sequence into my Harmony remote that takes me to TV Guide, HD Channels.
